"NO, JAPANESE ONLY!"

This response upon entering shops has pissed me off for so long that I decided to do some testing on how I could possibility get around it. Note: I'm as white as I can be with blond blond hair.

Wondering if anyone else has managed to defeat this? I'm Interested also to hear people's experience with Delivery health, where they didn't realize you were non Japanese till the girl was there.

Some basics:

If you don't speak Japanese at a near-fluent level
: don't even try going into random shops in anywhere but roppongi... it won't work for you and it will lower the chances of other non-Japanese getting in

Old Vs young staff:
No clue what is up with this but 40 year old+ are bastards, 90% of the time they will give a loud rude in English "JAPANESE ONLY" when you first enter the shop and refuse to speak to you in Japanese no matter how much and how perfect your Japanese is. Young Staff on the other hand will talk to you for as long as there aren't other customers and even possibility let you in.

Asian VS Non-Asian: if you are Chinese / Korean and can speak passable Japanese, congrats you don't need any help, just tell the people you are Japanese when asked. Having spoken to young staff at several of these places it's literally the "looking like a westerner is the problem"

How To possibly get in if you are white (aka putting up appearances is possible):
Realized this when a guy at a sexy pub was about to let me in but when another customer came and then it suddenly become rejection. Japan is so much about putting on the appearance, if it's not 75% clear you are not Japanese then they will possibly let it slide. Make yourself look Japanese / Asian as much as possible cover up your europeaness and you will be treated nicer upon rejection and even possibly get it.

Once you have been rejected: Don't waste your time Get out of there, unless you have a point card for the shop, nothing you say or do besides pulling out a Japanese passport with your picture(even then not sure) will get you in

Advertising to other europeans:
If you get in one of these places and it's not clear they actually accept european, don't start advertising to to other foreigners unless you are sure they are actually okay with foreigners. These semi-racist places are most afraid of a bunch of foreign customers coming along.

This is primary regarding services that often only hand or no release, if you get into more then that then it's possible that once you get in with the girl and she finds you are a foreigner she will run out the heck out of there....

This was addressed a bit in other threads. Japan has a lot of xenophobia, racism, and discrimination that they HIDE somewhat. Many foreigners don't realize the extent of it, until they go outside tourist circles or have lived in Japan for more than a year. The Japanese often HIDE their discrimination based on international business and trade reasons. They don't want any retaliation from countries they are selling Japanese products to. Information and incidents slip out, but it's usually brushed under the rug.

There Are 3 kinds Of Japanese Only:

1) This is where they mean they only want Japanese SPEAKERS.

A Japanese business may do this, where they have club rules or there will be communication with the staff, and they need customers to understand.

If you PROVE that you can understand or speak good Japanese, they will let you in.

Often they give less trouble to Whites, or can make special exceptions, but depends on the place.

This isn't racism. They don't care about your color, but your linguistic ability, as it MIGHT be necessary inside the club you want to enter.

2) This is where they mean Japanese nationals only. You must have a Japanese ID.

By the way, Japanese law DOES forbid discrimination against other Japanese citizens, no matter their race or appearance, and the police or courts can get involved. If you have a Japanese ID or passport, you CAN come in.

They will not allow other Asians from different countries and the manager or owner can be ultra-nationalistic.

This is often XENOPHOBIA.

3) No non-Asians allowed AND Asians from other countries MUST speak Japanese.

This is where the Japanese owner or manager is TRULY racist. They will have strong prejudices against White, Blacks, East-Indians, etc...

And these places can be SNEAKY, where they LIE and say you can't come in based on language. But even if a White/Black/Non-Asian speaks fluent Japanese, they will still ban you.

I've often wondered why Hinomaru is so all-inclusive? From the outside it looks very traditional/nationalistic, and it seems to be run by old-timers. Is their acceptance of anyone a top-down decision by one open-minded owner?

As many of us know, they also seem to be all-inclusive in terms of the girls they hire, as most would be turned down elsewhere.

Being located on the backside of Kabukicho, its low price and inclusiveness of any customer willing to settle for unattractive women may have ensured its survival. It's like the bottom of the food chain.

ive found that places that are struggling dont have the choice about what they accept. In both ways.

In terms of japanese only in japan ive never encoutered it in any but the sex industry.... again i still feel stores are more afraid of being labeled as a gaijin store by japanese customers problems etc. If you put on mask hat and colored contacts and can speak japanese your chances will go way way up

Don't get it. Why the fuck do you bother and want to go to a place that states Japenese only? When I was back in my country and they said no Asian, we just ignored and found some other place or came back with knives and bats (we were young and stupid) and taught them a lesson.

So you guys have 2 choices with all this racism around, stfu and move on since no one is forcing you to stay here, or if you are that tough, do something about it.

Yeah, this shit is racist but to me, using these services are not what I call a basic human right and does not even qualify as a first world problem. I say compared to not using transportation or getting served at a restaurant not using sexual services is rather trivial. Keep in mind that even if the store takes you, the girl still reserves the right to not service foreigners which is very true in places I frequent like Pururungang me Happy Berry. And remember some soap lands charge an extra 10,000 for foreigners and I had to pay an extra 20,000 at a deli here for a porn star but when I demonstrated that I could obey the rules and communicate with the girl and gave her a good time, they were willing to waiver the gaijin charge for me.

However, my stay high status membership with some places I mentioned, whenever a girl is hesitant about taking a foreigner, the front staff have always vouched for me saying I speak Japanese and the other girls that serviced me say I can be trusted.

At least in Tokyo language issue is a certain percentage of the reason. They can't explain the rules to them and all that and they get the impression that they can do whatever they want.

Foreigners can be aggressive. Like the girl can't tell a guy she doesn't like getting her hair pulled or her ass smacked hard. Some girls find foreign men scary because of these communication difficulties that could lead to misunderstandings. Even in this business, we still have to understand no means no and businesses fear that.

And yes, bigger penises are frightening to some women which I did have on one occasion I. Shikoku. Thankfully I got my money back. With non-Tokyo places where they are not used to foreigners, they just freak out.

@johnnyboy

Discrimination by the Japanese goes way beyond sex services. It extends into housing, jobs, political office, business contracts, etc...

So it IS a human rights issue. Japanese nationalists and politicians are just masters at controling the media. And the Japanese media is very keen to play along. This is for business purposes, such as trade and tourism. They understand that if it was clear what they were doing, it may hurt their international relationships and businesses. It's not in your face or violent racism, it's turn their back ostracizing and institutional discrimination.

When's the last time you have seen an openly Korean-Japanese hold political office? Don't even think about White, Black, or openly bi-racial.

With that said, yes as a foreigner and especially if you speak and read the language, you can find a comfortable niche. But let's not cover our eyes to the reality of what's going on.

Regarding someone of non-Japanese ancestory holding political office, Marutei Tsurunen, born in Finland, was in the Diet from 2001 to 2013. He is the exception, though.

True. But he slipped in initially, as a replacement and not directly elected. Though he later was. Kind of like, oh well, since he's there anyway. Very unusual story, and very rare.

And there are some Koreans and Chinese that slip in, though by changing their names and usually hiding their background. But all these exceptions are miniscule and largely ignored by the greater Japanese collective. It's not something embraced in Japan.

So what's the big problem if they do this? I mean it's not our country, they are not in our face about it and we have a choice.

That's the fucking problem with people like you, you move to a country and then want everyone to accept you with open fucking arms. Its life in Japan (and many other countries) so deal with it, stop crying racism and move on.

Other than the foreign population being 2% and amongst that 2% being largely Chinese and Koreas, I fail to see how us being denied sex services and not being elected as officials are connected. I don't see it as a human rights issue because many other countries, sexual services, regardless of consent is still a crime. I don't see how me being not being able to use one soapland (that could be awesome or just flat out suck) equates to no foreigners being elected. You could also take into account the elderly population and an apathetic Japanese youth on why jerk offs like Ishihara get elected. As I said before, the store may be willing to take a foreigner, but the working girls still reserves the right to reject to give you services. Are you against that too?

I grew up on border states so I do have sympathy over the language issue. I hate going to a McDonald's or the old KFC (that got shut down because of a drug deal by Mexican cartels) and nobody there speaks English.

No need for the hostility against fellow members.

Not that I need to explain my actions but I'm sick of hearing this old fart talking about how this country has turn all racist and how back in the old days all gaijin were respected and treated like king dicks etc etc. All the obvious nampa threads may win some votes but I'm not fooled by the rhetoric. I'm not Japanese and I have my fair share of dislikes about the culture here but again if anyone doesn't like it here, fuck off back home. everyone has made a decision to live here. Its better than most Asian countries and even less racist of a country compared to the the western ones.

I have heard about housing discrimination being bigger in the 80s and 90s, but I do not know of anyone having experienced it recently. A good friend of mine in Fukuoka who has been here since the late 80s experienced it and he tried to get an apartment and the complex showed him why they couldn't give him one. They showed him pictures of previous foreign residents fucking shit up and one painted a mural of Bob Marley on the wall (from what he remembered, it was a good painting). I have seen some nice places go out of business around where I went to high school in Arizona mostly because the people working there not speaking any damn English and because of drugs. Then again, I also blame the local businesses paying for cheap labor as well.

Yeah, that is one thing but compared to using a soapland or delivery health, it ain't the end of the world. Once I get discriminated on public transportation or using the local Gusto, then yeah, I am high-tailing out of here. But with the population decrease happening in the next generation, hopefully the youth of Japan will give a shit or the foreigners will take over Japan.

As for elected office, I will quote Malcom Reynolds and just say that governments only exist to get in a man's way. And the Japanese government is a joke. Since Obama became president in 2009, how many prime ministers has Japan had?

I've been here since the late 80's and things are much better now regarding in your face racism. I'm referring to society in general not P4P services. When it comes to P4P I always go for non-Jps women and I've never had any issue with those sorts of service providers.

Although he could have made a better video and presented more seriously I think this guy sums up a lot of accurate information regarding 'racism' in Japan or more specifically the reason why some Japanese seem racist.

You might be taking it the wrong way. My friends and I like Japan overall, but we are not delusional to the reality of xenophobia and racism here.

I rather be realistic about what is going on here, versus the fantasy land Japan that some foreigners cling to, or sweeping the reality of anything bad about Japan "under the rug"/hiding of it, that certain nationalists tend to do.

Still don't get the hint.

Featured in this scene:
Billy Ray = True Japanese
Louis Winthorpe III = @Username1, da' original ersatz Japanese

You almost make the cut. Fortunately for you the economy sucks just enough that "Japanese only" places are desperate for cash. (n):poop:

lol. I still stand by my post a long time ago about you John Chavers. Your cheeky videos are amusing. I am starting to believe however what others have suggested - that you are nothing but a keyboard warrior or rather video posting warrior. :)

I'll put a challenge up for you John Chavers. You name the time and place (any where in Tokyo) and lets see what kind of video you'll be posting and how much of an ersatz Japanese I am.
