I made the pilgrimage to Yoshiwara last night. First stop was Landmark, which welcomed me but wanted 55,000 yen for 100 minutes, and wouldn't quote a shorter period. Checked out Prima Donna and Kings Club; both said they didn't serve foreigners. Finally found Darling Harbor (darling-h.com). Greeted me warmly, ushered me in to their lounge and showed me a bunch of pictures. The price for 70 minutes at that time of night was 28,500 yen. The girl was indeed the one in the picture I selected, and her performance was great. Definitely a good choice for foreigners like me!

For me, first time mongering ever anywhere. NOT used to getting the super-polite deferential treatment from the male staff (guy knelt when he delivered my complimentary Coke), and I know I made at least one stupid gaijin mistake with the damn slippers. Blood type is a big deal to some groups of Asian people. I don't know how it is on average, but I have Japanese friends where their first discussion topic involves "Hey, what's your blood type?" Another friend of mine records contacts' blood type in their cell phone.

Therefore, when selecting a lady, blood type is a handy piece of information to have shown.

Another useful piece of information about soaplands in Yoshiwara is the age listing shown on each lady's profile. If you can read Japanese, you might notice that Darling Harbor actually shows a "Yoshiwara Age" for each provider. Most soaps just use "Age".

Akane, the lady that Steve.nw saw, shows her age as 22. To get her approximate real age, take the ones digit and multiply by 3, and then add the total to 20. So, 2 x 3 = 6, plus 20, making her age around 26 to 28. In Yoshiwara, you only age one year every three!

If the lady's age shows 24, then 4 x 3 = 12, plus 20, making her around 32 to 34. Most of the Yoshiwara soaplands use this formula, and it's fairly well known among Japanese punters.

Shops specializing in women in their 30s and 40s usually use their actual ages, though.

It's a bit like astrological signs in the West. Many people believe that certain pairs of blood types are more compatible than other pairings. So, if the customer is into the blood type superstition, he will pick a girl with a blood type that matches his or that is supposed to go with certain traits he desires in a partner etc.

Went there today, again on foot from Minowa. The have super-early and early discounts for people showing up before 9 a.m. / 12 a.m., but you're not eligible as foreigner anyway.
The manager recommended Natsuko ("Our number one"), and she was great. Totally different from my first soapland experience two days ago... she was very comforting and friendly. Paid 28.500 Yen for 70 Minutes, we didn't manage to finish in that time, so she continued after the phone rang once to signal that the time is over. No extra fee :)

As I found the shop via this forum, I wonder if it's OK to write "Tokyo Adult Guide" as reference on the questionnaire after the session?

First time in Japan - tried Darling Harbor based on this thread. In case this helps someone who also speaks zero Japanese:
*Took the Hibiya line to Minowa, showed taxi driver the address from the website
*Quick taxi ride, went inside and they showed me four pictures, started in 5-10mins
