Hello everyone. I joined/made my account a month ago to learn about Japanese Adult guide and stuff. I am really thankful that this website exists and also thanking the members posting their experience in Japan.

Now, I would like to share my experience on (adult) dating websites in Japan. I've tried couple of Japanese Websites and noticed their are a lot of BOTs (in Japan, it is known as SAKURA. Don't ask me why.) Also, you cannot send your information (like e-mails, phone number, etc) to other people on these websites. The company will track your mails and delete them. They do it for safety reasons, which I think it's bull shit :p

Here are the BAD/NOT TO GO (but if you know what you're doing... you can try...) websites

Casa (カーサ)
http://ccsa.jp/p/login.php?id=1026373493&s=2546

Cons:
A lot SAKURA's and You have to pay shit tone of money to read or send mails to the opponent. And in order to now the Mail address, you have to pay 3000 yeah for... which is ridiculous... (You can use that money on morning Jan Jan) Do not go here if you have lack of Japanese reading skills. You can try reading it by using google translator, but it might fail bad...

Pros:
You may able to find someone if you're lucky... I spend around 5000yen (You can pay in U.S. Visa card if you like.) and met 2 young (19~21) women out of what... 50 mails from different ladies... And I did not spend the 3000yen service. So you can try if you want.

@Line (アットライン)
http://at-line.jp/p/login.php?id=3270978&s=1746

Cons:
Reeeeaaaallly expensive and you use a lot of points to receive or send mails. You do get some free point to talk to ppl, but I noticed it is hard to track with this website. I don't even know where it is written... So I did not have a chance to meet anyone on this website.

Pros:
I heard from my Japanese friends that it is worth it if you are planning to spend tons of money on FWB women. There are few Bots/Sakuras on this website. So if you wanna spend money on that, then yeah... good luck

Here are NORMAL websites. As in a little cheep and you'll find actual women who's looking for men.

MaHaLaBa (まはらば)
http://maholover.com/

Megumi (メグミー)
http://rneg.me/index.html

You can also try to find women (and men) in this website. It does leads to either MaHaLaBa or Megumi. They both provide over 150 points for you to talk to people.

http://www.f-board.com/map/map9/area-18-0-kimp.html

Now this is the free one I am using at the moment. I do not know how long they'll make it free, but it is free now. So, if you wanna meet girls (or guys) and want to use your epic Japanese skills, I recommend here.

AUAO あうあお(some ppl call it "blue suit")
http://auao.net/p/top/logout.php?out

Now... As I gave my little info about these websites, make sure you use Google Images http://images.google.com/imghp?hl=en drag the image (or type copy paste URLs) and search to see if they're using fake pictures or not. Also note to yourself that some might be a "real" person, but leading you to trap (Like Yakuza warehouse, Expensive Fuzoku Area, Expensive Hotel, Wanting to know your house, etc...)

So if you really going to do this, RISK IT. If you felt somethings wrong or weird, ask people around you or GTFO.

Another note! Dude... if you really wanna date Japanese people... learn their language man... That means:

1. Able to write at least middle school level Japanese[NOT American middle level. I mean Japan's middle school level] (elementary might work on some people if they're nice...)

2. Be able to speak casual (some formal) Japanese Language. Not like, "You Me bathroom fuck" kind of conversation, a legit one.

3. Respect the opponent. If they dis you, then yeah... you can whoop their ass (lady to man or man to man situation. I didn't mean man to woman). If you're a guy who got screwed over, well... you gotta admit shit happens... and move on lol.

I hope my info helped a lot. If there was miss information or this has already been informed, then I apologize. Good luck to you all!

Hello again. I've also found another interesting website where you can hatch some kind of digimon egg when you send or receive mails (do not ask me why...)

http://www.digicafe.jp/

What is also interesting about this site is that there are the normal encounter version and there is the sex/fwb encounter version. In order to see the "underground" version of this website, if you click the ウラに切替 icon next to you user name on the right top corner of the digicafe homepage. I think this is kind oh hilarious and unique in a adult dating site.

Check it out :)

Thanks for the info. I used to do very well on a couple of Japanese dating sites but I think I need to get back into the game.

Anyone use happy mail? I see it advertised regularly.

Anyone use happy mail? I see it advertised regularly.

Oh my god. I've heard a lot of these commercials mostly in central Tokyo area and some places in Fukuoka.

Like this one right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aj6Z4aFHdY

I never tried Happy Mail, but some of my friends told me it's really effective in some area in Japan. Most of my friends in Fukuoka uses Happy Mail, since it's kind of a Boom (or..er.. popular) in that area. Here is the website if anyone is interested.

http://happymail.co.jp/en/

I haven't heard much from Central Tokyo people who uses Happy Mail much...
I tried to apply/create an account, but since I have a shitty as phone, I couldn't do it lol...

Here are some reviews if you're interested..

Back in the day I remember JapanCupid was fairly popular. Later, like many other sites it became full with scammers. Not sure how it is now..

For the guys more fluent in Japanese, anyone who tried Mixi?

Japan Cupid isn't bad at all, if you are looking for dates/GFs, etc. I can't recommend you directly push for paid companionship. It's against JC regulations. If you are good at the game, you probably have a pretty good chance with some of the women in their 30s-40s.

It is excellent imo, and there is an extensive thread about it in another forum on TAG. You can find various opinions and info there.

If you are looking for GF or just dating I had really great luck with Mixi but that was seriously a long time ago. At the time I had a set of friends that I would do outings with and they were my mixi friends. So they acted as my social proof. Then people outside of that circle I could date fairly easily when I was looking. It doesn't really work for me now as I would have to have my personal info plastered all over it as sometimes the who social thing can create unwanted drama.

Recently I have registered with mixi hoping to find a date. Result is yet to know. I am trying to build n acceptable and profound profile at the same time looking for some date. I started it 3 weeks ago. However, No result so far.

If anyone has any suggestion for me about how should I approach, let me know.

Mixi is a good site, just a word of warning, especially for the girls out there when my Friend used this, and got speaking with a guy, the next stage of the relationship seemed to be “let’s go for a drive”. No one seemed to understand that she will not get into a car with a stranger. Japanese guys found it highly annoying that I wouldn’t just lighten up and get in a car with them. But be careful – you never know what might happen.

Yeesh. They should just send the Japanese guys a link to the story of Lucie Blackman.

I have thought of using these sites but neveryet signed up

One I am interested in is

www.pcmax.net (or is it .com) ?

The big trucks drive round Shibuya advertizing it

I'm going to add my thoughts here about JapanCupid.com, which I've used for the past month or so in anticipation of my trip to Japan.

1. A lot (all?) of women on the site are looking for long-term relationships. It's not great for short-term hookups unless the woman believes you might be a good long-term candidate. I hooked up with one woman off of the site. She was divorced and probably saw me as a possible future mate. I had two others who offered to meet me, but I just didn't have time to follow through.

2. The standard membership is free, but I don't believe standard members can freely email back and forth with each other and most girls only have standard memberships, so buy a membership that allows standard members to communicate with you. I think the "platinum" membership costs about $30 a month. Worth it if you're going to use the service.

3. Focus on women who have been active on the site within the past week. If she hasn't been on the site in the past month, she probably won't respond when you contact her.

4. A lot of women from China contacted me. One identified herself as a sex worker (her profile was gone the next day).

5. Read the profile before responding. If she smokes and you don't or you drink and she doesn't, for example, you might not have fun with her.

6. Important - exchange email addresses with anyone you want to stay in contact with so you can contact her outside of the japancupid system. One girl I was having a nice conversation with gave me her email address. I failed to write it down, thinking I had it in the email she sent me through japan cupid. Then she deleted her profile and her japan cupid emails to me vanished along with the email address she had sent me.

7. Use the advance search to narrow down who you are looking for. If you want a woman who smokes and drinks and lives in Tokyo and is between ages 30 and 35, search for that. You can narrow the search to single, separated, and divorced women too.

8. Most of my email responses were ignored. That could be attributable to the women not being interested in my profile, though, so maybe your success rate will be higher if you have a more "desirable" profile.

I heard awhile back there was a site called Sexi which was a hook-up site the same as mixi (same group) maybe. My Japanese is zero but.......

@sxian

I think JapanCupid may have had it's time and now is dying. It was great 3 to 4 years ago, but the number of real women and activity has decreased. Like Craigslist was great 6 to 7 years ago and now sucks.

The main problems are:

1) Prostitutes, scammers, and fake profiles overrunning a web site.

The dating site must stay vigilant and stop such garbage. It destroys the purpose of the website and wastes the customer's time.

2) Bad ratios of 10 guys to 1 woman

This creates a sausage fest. The women become arrogant, jump from guy to guy like maniacs (so break promises for dates), and fat ugly old women think they deserve to date Brad Pitt.

A guy should use 3 or 4 different websites and not rely on

1. JapanCupid- http://www.japancupid.com/

2. FriendFinder- http://friendfinder.com/

3. Match- http://international.match.com/index.aspx

4. OkCupid- https://www.okcupid.com/

5. POF- http://www.pof.com/

6. Metropolis- http://classifieds.metropolis.co.jp/category/personals

7.Craigslist- http://tokyo.craigslist.jp/search/ppp

http://sexi-sns.net/ << This one?

Looks like a invitation is required. Unless I'm reading this wrong, but will do some checking and see if any good information is posted around about this service.

Edit: I noticed that their business contact is a Gmail address. Interesting, they are also charging quite a premium for ad space.

i wonder, do you guys aonly want free sex on dating sites or looking for soulmate? Just curious thanks

Dating sites are for men and women to hook up freely, find love, and enjoy NATURAL sexual relationships. Its purpose is NOT prostitution.

If a guy wants a prostitute, he can look for that specifically and go find an escort website or even pick out certain ladies in Deai/Date Cafes.

When prostitutes put themselves on dating sites, they must misrepresent themselves and LIE. Thus, they are SCAMMERS.

I have ZERO against escorts or prostitutes that let you know up front and it's clear that guys are looking for that type of play for pay action. I think P4P has it's place, but NOT in every sexual interaction.

Totally dislike prostitute scammers polluting and attempting to destroy dating websites and classified ads. Craigslist and now JapanCupid are examples.

Sadly, many women don't understand and think paid sex and non-paid sex is the same, when it's not. There is a huge difference in emotional satisfaction.

Best that I can explain it... There's nothing more annoying than getting a message from a hot woman, getting all happy, then finding out she only wants money from you. It's like ruining Christmas. Like opening your Christmas present and finding out the box is EMPTY :-(

Feedback on this site, for anyone that finds this thread later:

- It's mostly males only, very few female members.
- No reports of meeting people from the site.
- It's discussion about adult topics and you have to pay after 1 month.
- Japanese postings indicate that this may be a phishing site to collect member details to advertise other adult content to those who registered.
- Can't verify who the owner is and support contacts are usually unresponsive.

Our verdict: Don't waste your time. End of story.

Solong, How come we're not best friends??? We think pretty much the same!

Yea, this is the one that I heard about but had no idea of how to get on. Sorry if i got everyone excited over nothing. Was just something I'd heard about and passed it along. I'll try and be more careful in the future.

Hey, it's no big deal... that's why we're here: To knowledge share. Someone will run across this post while checking up on that site and we will have done our duty. :)

If you're ever unsure of anything, come here and ask first! At the very least, we can certainly do some quick research in Japanese for you. (as time permits, of course!)

Ran across this article while getting my morning coffee: Regarding OKCupid

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/28/okcupid-experiment_n_5628054.html

HuffPost said:
Remember last month when everyone hated on Facebook for manipulating people's moods in the name of science? On Monday, the dating website OkCupid came to Facebook's defense by admitting that it, too, runs experiments on people.

Let's just say the reaction wasn't much better.

Christian Rudder, one of OkCupid's founders, wrote a company blog post Monday explaining that he and his engineers sometimes play around with people's accounts to figure out the best way to build the site. In the past, Rudder wrote, that tweaking has included hiding profile text and telling pairs of people who might have made great matches that they weren't actually good for each other.

"We noticed recently that people didn't like it when Facebook 'experimented' with their news feed," Rudder wrote. "Even the FTC is getting involved. But guess what, everybody: if you use the Internet, you're the subject of hundreds of experiments at any given time, on every site. That's how websites work."

Anyone who thinks looks shouldn't matter is likely to be bummed out by the company's findings. Back in the days when OkCupid would ask users to rate potential dates on both looks and personality, Rudder's team decided to hide text in some profiles -- the life summaries that the lovelorn toil over for hours -- just to see what would happen. They found that people received about the same personality score with or without text. Conclusion: Rating personality was just another way of asking "Is this person cute?"

Another experiment tested OkCupid's famous matching algorithm, which is supposed tell you, on a scale of 0 to 100, how good a match you are with someone else. The site told some pairs who were bad matches that they were, in fact, great for each other, and it told other pairs who had scored high on compatibility that they weren't a good fit. OkCupid found that the power of suggestion made people who were incompatible -- according to the algorithm, at least -- hold an online conversation longer than expected.

The argument that Rudder is making on behalf of the rest of the tech industry is that websites need to do this sort of testing to build stuff we like. "Most ideas are bad," he wrote. "Even good ideas could be better. Experiments are how you sort all this out."

In June, Facebook published a bit of research that cast some light on its manipulative practices. In a university-approved experiment, the site tweaked some people's news feeds to figure out what would put them in a bad mood. The paper provoked a national conversation over the secret testing all large websites presumably do.

It's not exactly a surprise to learn that OkCupid's data people like to play around with user metrics. In fact, for years OkCupid has synthesized chunks of its data to publish fun, viral blog posts like 2011's "10 Charts About Sex."

Still, it's one thing to look at a bunch of anonymized data and draw conclusions from it, like OkCupid did when it told us the real stuff people white people like. It feels like something else entirely when a dating site that sells itself on the power of its matching algorithm lies to some of its users about that very thing.
