Hi TAG! I had my first experience at the (in)famous Alpha-In in Nishi-Azabu the other week with a new favourite client (hello Colonel Angus: it was mutual ;)) and thought I'd post some thoughts and pictures. http://www.hotelalphain.com/

My date picked room 201 (glad it wasn't 101, tbh, that scene in 1984 scarred me). The receptionist was a super-nice older lady and she was absolutely fine about me going up alone to meet my date without calling up to the room first (sometimes they'll call up to check while giving you a distrustful once over).

The room was very large, with the bed in the corner and a whole load of reasonably terrifying S&M equipment, including a spreader chair that could be cranked back to horizontal, and a meat hook/chain combo hanging from the ceiling that my date and I couldn't work out was ornamental or not (I'm hoping it was)... There was also an entire rack full of various spanking and other tools, including a spreader bar and (confusingly) a paintbrush.

The bed had leather cuffs at all four corners, which was my favourite feature - they were incredibly strong and took a load of strain. It also had mirrors at the foot and behind it, which provided a nice view.

In a really typical Japanese S&M fashion, the toilet was a squat toilet with only a curtain that could be pulled across for privacy. I'm not into the humiliation thing myself but I can see the appeal of watching girls pee (I can't believe I wrote that on a public forum). There was also a laminated note at the head of the bed telling patrons that golden showers on the bed were STRICTLY FORBIDDEN and that anyone flouting this rule would be obliged to pay the cleaning fee (all in super-polite Japanese, of course).

Bath was basic. The fridge was fully stocked with beer and chuhai as well as soft drinks. Nothing better than an ice-cold beer after an hour or two of debauchery, after all.

I can't recall the cost of the room (#girlprivilege) but my date and I ended up extending, and the all night rate was around 20,000 yen. The lady from reception had beautiful keigo on the phone and, again, was really nice throughout. The Alpha-In is pretty famous and it's in a much nicer area than most love hotels, but it always makes the difference when the staff are polite and friendly.

The hotel also has a shop and a bar(!) downstairs, with the special Tokyo Tower dildo that I really hope someone gets me for my birthday this Saturday. HINT.

That's a pretty fantastic review. Thanks for your input. Given your #girlprivilege, did you notice whether the hotel required talking to the front desk, or if it had the button-pressing and paying at the counter? That's one other important piece of info that would be helpful.

I, for one, call for a lot MORE Love Hotel reviews. Thanks again! :)

Meiji: Thanks! I was into love hotels even before I started escorting, so writing reviews of them is really fun. Could we perhaps have a set area of the forum (in the Adult Entertainment section maybe) for LH reviews? I know I'd find it super handy knowing which hotels have a Hitachi wand/jacuzzi bath/costumes, for example. There's a Japanese LH search engine (happyhotel) but obviously the pictures don't tell the entire story.

Good question re the check-in: it was totally open, no privacy screen. You select the room with the panel/buttons on the wall system and then pay the receptionist directly. The rooms all have ornate kanji names and no pictures, but my date said the lady at reception showed him a book with pictures of the rooms before he chose (again, great service).

Well, that was my not-so-subtle vote for such an area. :) I'll leave it to the Powers That Be to decide if a separate sub-forum makes sense (hint to everyone: more reviews will probably help make this decision).

I guess there's two questions inherent in that. I don't care as much about the privacy screen (although your date might), and more about the language barrier. I went to one place in Kabukicho (I *think* it was Hotel Wako) where there's NO panel/buttons, and you choose the room by talking to the receptionist. For guys with limited Japanese, these situations are bad news...

Yatta! Come on guys, get on board. Tell the hot girl you're with to hang five while you take pictures of the room fixtures! :D

I'm pretty sure my date had very limited Japanese, so the room choosing was most likely done with pointing. The Alpha-In almost certainly gets a ton of foreigners given its fame and location (next to the American Club - from swanky cocktails to the dungeon next door!) so they're equipped to deal with them. The only thing might be if reception calls up to ask about extending your time, given they don't speak English, but your date could always fend that question.

Caveat: it's probably a BAD IDEA to take pictures of public areas in Love Hotels, given that there will be employees and other patrons present who don't want to be included in your 'research'.

;)

Oh sure, I meant once you were safely inside the room!

@kittyotodoke - Your request about LH reviews, has not fallen on deaf ears. We are in the midst of a reorganization and we're trying to figure out what the best solution would be to accommodate the heavy flow of information coming in. :) We really, really appreciate everyone's willingness to contribute!

Man, this seems like a crazy place. Most of my familiarity with love hotels are in Ikebukuro and Kabuki-cho but this takes the cake. I guess with that interesting warning, this isn't the kind of hotel R. Kelly would like to film his next video lol
