japan is 2nd on the list after china with most infected....noooooooo!
be safe tag community since most of us use p4p:angelic::(

Yeah, it's almost like Japan would be close to China geographically! Crazy, right?

And your chances of getting the new corona virus by p4p in Japan are at the moment pretty much same than winning the lottery. Without buying a lottery ticket.

Yeah well there is that cruise ship full of infected MFers anchored at Yokohama under quarantine right now. Seems like the start of a movie plot. We'll call it World War C. Not super original but probably fitting.

Here in the western region of the states, we're basically bracing for the inevitable outbreak. My current state hasn't reported any infections yet, but with the number of daily direct flights still coming in from Hong Kong, I give that another week at most. There are several dozen Americans stuck out in Yokohama Bay, calling home each day to bitch about the situation so it's constantly on the news stations. I'm about to cancel a Bangkok trip I've been looking forward to for a year and I'm having serious reservations about flying into HND in four weeks. But then again, by that time it might not even matter.

I arrived in Japan for the first time during the SARS outbreak back in 2003. Perhaps if certain peoples didn't eat rats, bats, snakes and cats, and make a national pastime of pissing and shitting in the city streets and spitting on anything not moving faster than them, they wouldn't be gifting the world with a pandemic every four or five years. Tenno Heika Banzai!!

Singapore says not so fast.

When I flew there in December, I sat next to some kid on my 2nd leg from HK who was coughing up a storm. He tried covering up his mouth with his hand but it was angled just right so that the air hit me right in the face. I went nuts trying to make sure I didn't get sick. This was a few weeks before the virus went public too...

I like to think salted egg fish skins kept me healthy during that trip. Just make sure you run 26.4 miles for each bag eaten.

They call that rag the Daily Fail for a reason.

Its basically the UK’s version of a Fox News produced National Enquirer.

That's surely bullshit reporting but on the other hand, if 25k Chinese suddenly disappeared, would anyone really notice? Especially if Big Brother Xi didn't want anyone to notice?

All I know is, I was speaking yesterday with a colleague of mine who is originally from Shanghai and still has family there. He was telling me that the government is obscenely full of shit (which we all know) and that when he spoke with his relatives recently, they assured him that the situation is much, much worse than the state news is letting on. They live in downtown Shanghai and told him the streets are eerily deserted. No people, no vehicles, nothing. They claim the government has not only ordered everyone to stay indoors, but also banned all forms of travel including cars, buses, trains, etc. That, and the country seems to have run out of masks, so my colleague is busy stockpiling boxes from Amazon and shipping them to his relatives.

If I decide to fly into HND next month I'll be taking an airlines that doesn't service any airport in China or Hong Kong or virtually anywhere else in Asia but Japan, but something tells me it'll be just my luck to show up at the terminal and find it packed with screaming, spitting Chinese tourists who routed their escape trip to Japan through one of the 7 U.S. airports still accepting them.

Which just reassures me not to believe anything people there tell you about the situation. I mean we all know, or should know, that the masks don't help you so them being so hooked up on getting more should tell us they know shit about the situation.

Yeah the streets being empty could mean everyone is dead. It also could be the result of not trusting the government (not blaming anyone about that) and the media trying its best to spread FUD. You gotta get them clicks and sell them papers.

The cruise ship is turning to a reliable data source for us though. Out of 273 tested we now have 61 positives. So even if we have the best possible scenario for spreading the virus not everyone gets infected. And some of them don't even have any symptoms, and nobody is seriously ill.

I'm starting to advocate this as the punishment from the gods above and starting to collect money to build a statue to save us all. Though it seems this kills only older males who smoke. And are Chinese. So probably nobody gives a shit.

Or a general order to stay indoors from a government that is known to enforce such orders with a bullet.

That's the impression I get. I haven't been following the numbers very closely but it seems like the dead are almost all Chinese in rural shithole China or Chinese who brought the virus abroad to third-world countries so it's probably due to them having filthy practices. If you look at the impact on all the other first-world people who got sick, the coronavirus doesn't seem to be any more deadly than the usual flu, if even that. We just don't have a vaccine yet so people are losing their shit.

I just hope this shit blows over quickly. There's a stool in a ladyboy bar in Nana Plaza with my name on it.

That's what my colleague was hinting at. I mean, the doctors who tried sounding the alarm about the new virus back in December all got thrown in jail, right? What a wonderful government. And to think there are Americans who think we should model our government on these assholes.

Wasn’t your commander in chief making some suggestions along those lines the other day?

He's been so busy bragging about the acquittal and bitching about the impeachment trial that I haven't paid much attention recently. The Superbowl and SOTU were traumatic enough. If anything, it's the Bernie/Warren crowd pushing for "fairer" (i.e., controlled) elections and Pelosi egging them on in the latest effort to prevent his now-inevitable re-election. I've been focused more on the infection numbers in Bangkok, as the true question of the day is whether or not I'll get to have sex (or masturbate alone) with all the curtains open at my premier suite in Nana next month.

No, no bullet is involved this time. It's only a threat of up to 7 years in prison.

Wuhan is anything but rural. It's a metropolitan of 10 million people.

They die simply because there's no enough medical care for everyone. All the hospitals there have been swarmed with sudden increase of patients.

The situation is very similar to cholera, you have a chance of 0.5% to die with proper medical care, or 60% without it.

That's why they built 5 new hospitals in 10 days there to provide 6900 additional beds.

There will probably be no Chinese tourists by next month. Basically the whole population is on travel ban.

Bangkok would probably also be fine.

What you should worry about is Hong Kong. They had a pretty ugly record during SARS, and now they are doing some shitty job again. It's highly unlikely that their government could ban their citien with a bullet from fleeing to Bangkok and contract those poor ladyboys there.

The Buta thinks that the number of cases being reported by country is as much if not more correlated to the diligence of the checkers, their coverage and accuracy of their equipment than the actual number of infected people. Case in point: Africa, not a single case last time I looked. Why? Because although there is a huge number of Chinese going in and out of African countries, and there are certainly infected people, the governments just don't give a shit, and they don't have the skills or kits to check even if they did. And since the whole place is full of people who are already infected and in the process of dying from a variety of pestilence, Corona will run its course unnoticed. Just fucking great.

Bingo! and it's also the case of Wuhan.

And we'll probably witness a spike of confirmed cases very soon because they just manufactured 100,000 kits and built 5 new hospitals there.

Lol fair point, but it's not as if they're the only ones reporting it:
https://weather.com/en-IN/india/new...us-outbreak-china-confirms-636-deaths-tencent
https://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/qq-tencent-coronavirus-real-death-toll-1.5454818
And there's a bunch more that add little to the discussion or updates to the matter.

Obviously screenshots can easily faked (a lot of us here are more than familiar with heavily photoshopped pictures of girls), but the fact that people who live in China are reporting that the situation is far worse than what's being reported does give it some credence. Plus people saying that the Chinese government is being "transparent" is a little laughable when this started off with police trying to silence a whistle blower: https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/06/asia...rus-whistleblower-doctor-dies-intl/index.html

Ya think? :)

Apply some logic.

If those screenshotted numbers were remotely realistic, we'd have thousands of confirmed cases in Japan and Singapore by now, and that cruise ship would be near 100% infected.

This case was actually a bit more complicated than it appears on CNN. It is an example of how the Chinese totalitarianism system is flawed and unable to solve the fundamental conflicts of interests between central dictatorship and local administrations (in this case Wuhan).

The deceased doctor blowed the whistle in a way that Beijing appreciates but Wuhan doesn't. That's why the local police tried to silence him while the propoganda at top level later chose to canonize him (otherwise his story would have never been heard).

His whistleblowing was a bit too late anyway. Some other doctors already blowed it 5 days earlier (in a way that would not get silenced by the police).
