I open up Tinder after a long long time and there is a match and a message (pretty much like the first time girl has messaged me first) from a nice looking MILF.

So I go to reply and Tinder decides to ask me for age verification. Only official documents will work, passport or residence permit.

Guess it's time to remove the app from my phone then.

Oh, that's going to make a sweet hacking target in about six months.

Does your dick have official documentation?

Does the certificate for being The Beautiful One count?

Who am I kidding, of course it does!

Did you roast some desk Johnny in a call centre in Chennai?

"Do you know who I am am? I am the guy that introduced consensual uncompensated hetrosexual anal sex to Japan"

Look on the bright side, now that your not on Tinder having meaningless conversations and pointless sex, you will have more time for your other hobbies.

Just got this today, can't even view past messages - thing is I can't verify "my age".

What do you mean?

1.The age verification tech isn't working?
2. Or you understated your age?
3. Or you simply, don't want to disclose your ID?

If #2, perhaps the exercise is simply aimed at establishing that your age is "legal" rather than catching people who lied about their age(????).

I think this age verification exercise will be the death of Tinder in Japan. I bet they don't take down any profiles that aren't aged verified. So there will be 1000's of dead profiles left on the app.

Is that a new feature?
Currently using Tinder and never had that.

Maybe because I'm a paying member with a registered credit card?

Not sure if it's new, I never had that outside of Japan and l got that too. Unfortunately I'm not trusting Tinder's security standards enough to send them my ID. In fact you could send any ID ...

It hasn't asked me to do this yet. Maybe it's because my phone and tinder account was made in U.S. even though my data plan is japanese

My tinder account is locked to a European phone number, but if I want to message someone, this verification pops up. Since I'm not going to send them any identification documents ...

I just tried this and changed my profile to Europe. Still it says "to contact our Japanese members you need to ID yourself" or something to that effect.

Would have been my guess, that it's linked to the country of the person being contacted.

They seemed to have scrapped the ID verification as today morning I was able to log in. And in fifteen minutes of swiping got pretty much the same amount of matches as normally in two months.

To be honest I haven't really invested any time on my profile nor pictures so I don't have that many matches normally. Except in Bangkok. :p
