Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5
(updated score)

Good points:

1) Lots of lingerie and customs, allows foreigners

2) Fluent Japanese not needed to join/become member

3) Big inside, nice decor.

4) Doesn't harrass women brought by members for excessive identification like phone number or home address, only just verification of legal age.

Note- However, will charge new member fee for women they don't recognize.

5) Good for inviting your friends for swinger parties.

6) Recently, since 9/2014, they have done very well at their parties and events. Consequently, updated their score a bit from 3 to 3.5.

Bad points:

1) More expensive than many other happening bars

2) Expensive new memberships fees for men bringing new ladies to the bar, and can be empty inside so a gamble.

Fees on new women in couples is a bad business concept/poor management, thus no incentive for guys to introduce new ladies to the club.

Management has been poor at encouraging swinger parties or inviting women, but appears to be improving from 9/2014. Good to see, but have to keep it up.

3) Don't usually expect action there, unless you are bringing a lady or you get lucky. If you are a single guy, the less Japanese you speak, the more difficult it can be.

4) Some Japanese can be anti-foreigner/racist, particularly an issue for single foreign guys. So yes, coming as a couple is better.

Which time and days do you recommend. Looking to bring a lady who is a little bit reluctant but wants to try. Going and it being completely empty would probably be a wasted opportunity. Is it only worth going for bar time or is cafe time ok too?

hello
I am planning to visit this bar with my wife in August, it is easy to find when in yasukuni street as the website does not indicate the exact address.
regarding the action, when you say it is empty , do you thing on monday or tuesday evening there are some customers,, and what average men for one couple? thank you for the info

It's kinda hard to find. I'm often in that area if you are comfortable I can show you. Let me be clear though I'm just showing you the place I'm not going in myself. Also Tuesday night not sure cause it's not a weekend.

well, finally we were there last tuesday. not easy to find but needed to ask the way two times.
well received by the boss, membership paid -7'ooo jpy - 5'000 for the evening and here we go !
three couples already there, one single woman - japanese - and two single guys.
it was a pleasant evening and we appreciated the japanese woman getting really craze after being fucked by all men and enjoying a lesbian time
really a great pleasure, will try to go back before returning to europe
thanks to all members for providing the infos

We went there tonight with my gf and were turned down at the entrance because we didn't speak Japanese, although they were very courteous about it. Shame, we were looking forward to some fun!

That is unusual. The only thing I can think of is you completely don't speak any Japanese whatsoever and you encountered the one staff that is an asshole. The manager, Tomo, can speak some English and is polite.

However, there is a male staff member that works for him that is a bit of a douchebag, in terms of attitude at the door. Usually has this sour look on his face and can give foreigners a hard time.

You can try again. If possible, go with a couple that can speak Japanese OR with a foreign couple that are already members. Once you get a membership card, they won't bother you again. The Japanese requirement isn't that high, so you can also study up on the language too.

I went there by myself yesterday (Wed 04 Feb) and had no problem getting in even though I don't speak any Japanese. The staff was very friendly. However, it was mostly empty and I just ended up drinking. I assume Thursdays are also bad, so I'll try again this weekend.... Anyone have suggestions for Thursdays?

Hi my partner and I tried to go to Bliss Out yesterday but we couldn't find the place nor could we effectively communicate with the receptionist.

Any advice as well as keen to check it out tonight.

The google map coordinates will put you right there. It's across from the robot cafe (which is easy to spot), around the corner from the main entrance. . You can call them and ask for Tomo. He's the manager and can speak English. He can guide you in.

Hi we were actually exactly at that spot but couldn't find any signs etc. Unfortunately we just called any a lady picked up and didn't respond to my request in English to speak with Tomo-san. Any other ideas?

Did you find and enjoy?

Hi, we called by telephone around 11pm. Lady picked up and said Tomo-San was not there but it was a quiet night so she could not help us (permit entry). She said suggested we go on Saturday as it was going to be a staffs birthday party so would be busier. As we are out of town tonight I guess the stars won't align.

I was there last night with a date (Western woman), and the birthday cake was not bad.

We had a good/"successful", but not super-great or exceptional, time. I'd put it somewhere in the middle of the four HBs I've patronized, but they vary so much from one evening to another depending on who you go with, who else you encounter, which staff members are working, the phase of the moon etc that it is not clear how valid such comparisons are.

Unsurprisingly, my experience last night confirms Solong's reports above. (Thanks @Solong , btw!)

From a TAG perspective perhaps the most significant point is that it is by far the friendliest and easiest-to-access HB in Tokyo for non/minimal-Japanese speakers, in my experience.

Directions: Walk past the Robot Restaurant main entrance with it on your right as you pass. Turn right at the next intersection. Bliss Out is very roughly halfway down the short little block in front of you on the left side of the street, just before the entrance to a very modest looking LH.

If you don't mind sharing, which are the four HBs and how would you rank them? I've inky been to Colors bar which was... interesting but not great. I'd like to go to Sleeping Beauty but it seems very expensive.

@Wwanderer

I haven't been to Sleeping Beauty in a while, can you do the review?

Also, you've been to other ones, including Bliss and 9259, so should be a very good comparison.

Sorry to be so slow to respond, guys. Life just seems to keep getting busier and more things squeezed out. It has been going in that direction for decades, so I am not sure why I keep expecting it to change "next month". :-/

First thing I should mention is that I have never been to an HB by myself. I always bring one or more dates (have done 1, 2 and 3 at a time) and sometimes go with another couple. Once went as part of an MMF 3p, an M part in case anyone was wondering. For various reasons these aren't options for everyone, so my impressions and feelings about the places may not be too relevant for some of you. (I doubt I will ever go by myself either. Since I am virtually always the oldest person there, going by myself does not strike me as likely to be a successful approach. I have been to swingers parties in the US as a single, but that was long years ago in a galaxy far far away.)

Here are my impressions of the four I've patronized in rank (best to worst) order, from my perspective:

9259: This is the least posh and most laid back and relaxed of the four with the nicest and most welcoming staff. The facilities are "well worn". The level of action varies quite A LOT (probably true of all the places). I have been there when you might have thought that the patrons were much more interested in playing darts or drinking games than in having sex. However, I have also seen some wild group sex there, both in the play room and in the public room. Their rule about couples having to stay together all the time (toilet seems to be the only exception) can be a bit of a drag but is mostly ok.

Sleeping Beauty: I have been there only once and that was with my date and another couple. The other guy convinced a third couple to join us in the group room and we did pretty much all of the permutations except those involving MM gay activities. The facilities were in reasonably good shape and large, plenty of room in the public and the play areas despite probably the biggest crowd of customers I've ever seen in an HB. They had a nice selection of costumes and BDSM stuff etc. The staff were pretty low profile but there when you wanted them for something. In addition to the group I was with, the level of action was medium...a number of other couples active but most people just sitting around drinking and making awkward conversation. The guy at the front desk seemed really grumpy, not that that mattered much.

Bliss Out: As I mentioned above, my date (who was one of those in my group at SB) and I had a nice and successful time but less fun than at SB, but it might well have been the reverse if we had gone to BO as a 4-some and SB as a couple only. The facilities were comparable to SB I guess, and the staff seemed more friendly and welcoming. A good selection of costumes and equipment too. The level of activity seemed quite high given the relatively small number of women there; most of them seemed to be participating in the play rooms at some point in the evening. On the other hand, their numbers were rather small compared to those of single guys. In fact, we left when we did mostly because there were so many single guys nosing around my date, even when she was clearly disinterested, that it began to annoy her (I think). A LOT of gaijin customers, no doubt because the place seems intent on welcoming non-Japanese speakers.

Retreat: It is bottom of the list for me, but this may well be because the two women I took did not get along at all well once we got there. (They were arguing with each other in Japanese and whispering cruel little cutting comments about each other to me in English; imagine what a turn-on that was for me and how far from what I had imagined for the night!) It had the poshest facilities but the most annoying staff, seemed like they were trying to chaperone rather then host the customers. The play area was dark, mostly or entirely partitioned off and well separated from the public area. You cannot even enter the play area without asking a staff member to unlock the door for you. This prevents any sexy feeling from easily leaking into the inactive group from the people who are getting it on. Relatively little English was spoken. The crowd seemed older on average than at the other places, but at my age it makes little difference...mid-20s and mid-30s are approximately the same age from my perspective!

I don't recall anything specific about the prices at any of the places except that none of them cost me as much as I routinely pay for dinner for my date and myself when I go out in Tokyo, all more-or-less in the range of what I consider normal entertainment costs for an evening out in Tokyo in other words. So I can't help on that front, but I imagine their prices are on their web pages.

I hope that is of some help and/or interest...

How many was A LOT of gaijin customers that night? How many women were there - what night was it and was it typical?

Maybe 4 gaijin plus my date and me., maybe 8-10 women not counting staff. It was a Saturday night I believe. I have no idea how typical that that is since I have only been there once (so far).

Anyone going to Bliss Out for the White Day event this Saturday 14 March?

Would like to get an idea of how popular it might be, as we went on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago and it was very quiet.

Hoping it might be much more fun this Saturday!

Would be there if we weren't running in the Yokohama Marathon the next day :)
Let us know how it goes if you make it out

Going back to Tokyo 1st week of April and will visit again the place
Any ideas if during the cherry blossom season Japanese ladies have the time to visit HB?
Thank you!

Questions for you who have been to 9259, BO and other places -

I have a lady friend in her late 40s/early 50s who is keen to go to one of these places in Tokyo. She is familiar with Japanese-only places, but not ones for gaijin, and she wants to go to one. She has experience of some of these places in Yokohama but doesn't live there any more.

Have you seen slightly older women where she would not be uncomfortable at her age? She is pretty sexy just a little older.

Another question - I have not been to these places - does everyone walk around naked, or can one wear clothes, and ladies, high heels, etc.?

My gf and I are greenhorns in this, and we are planning to visit Bliss Out out of curiosity. As we are not warmed up to the idea of having sex with strangers, my question would be what are the fun things I can do with her as a couple at Bliss Out? Or is it just a join the crowd or just sit back kind of place? If yes, what would be a better recommended place? TIA

@VenusHoshii

Mmmmm...perhaps a misunderstanding here: Neither 9259 nor BO nor either of the other two Tokyo HBs I've visited are "for gaijin" in any sense. On all but two of the occasions I've visited such places, I and sometimes my date(s) were the only gaijin present. The very large majority of the customers are Japanese, and the conversation is almost entirely in Japanese. These are places that sometimes will allow gaijin to enter, if you speak enough Japanese or have a persuasive Japanese date etc; the exception is BO which is significantly more welcoming to gaijin than the others.

As for whether or not she would be uncomfortable at her age, that obviously depends on her, but she would likely be one of the older people there and could be the oldest by a noticeable margin. I think many, maybe most, women would be uncomfortable in that situation, but not all. I have never seen anyone close to my age in an HB, but it doesn't bother me a bit...so a matter of personal psychology, self-confidence, not-giving-a-damn.

As for walking around nude, no most people are only totally nude in the play rooms (and sometimes not even there); in the main bar area people generally wear some clothes, ranging from their ordinary street clothes to something very skimpy that leaves the "naughty bits" in full view to sexy costumes (which are provided by most HBs, at a charge in some places, for those who don't bring their own). Basically you can dress however you wish.
