Gaijinpot sucks because 85% of the population over there are self-loathing asses.

Let's not mention the censoring crap with G-Media making their advertisers happy. Then you have self-absorbed Japanophiles that 'know-it-all' yet complain, whine, bitch & moan like the little sissies they are.

YET, despite all of their bitching, they're still there and also claim to still be in Japan.

Then there are the spammers and the owners take no action.. there was an infected attachment there yesterday, not sure if it's still there, but it should have been dealt with much quicker!

I've got a few girlfriends over there, they however, haven't drank the Gaijin-piss-pot koolaid.

The pot is bad, mmmkay?

So, Karen, who pissed you off over there?

It's impossible to have a normal conversation over there. Even if you're looking for help and it doesn't meet the 'clique's' guidelines for suitable topics, a bunch of junkies come in and trash the thread.

That on top of very un-clear or inconsistent moderation guidelines in conjunction with their tight-ass censorship.

That site makes me go from 0 to total bitch in a single nanosecond!

So, I don't go there anymore.

Just stay here then.

No reason to deal with the kiddies over there. I saw a few serious questions asked recently and the only response some people got were jokes or insults. No sense in replying since anything worth saying will just get dumbed down or drowned out by the cesspool.

FWIW, I've been a member at GP since that forum opened. It's a shame.

Maybe it would be worth inviting some of the more interesting/reasonable/active Gaijinpot members to TAG...by a discreet email or board "private message", not by a post, of course?

We toyed with that idea during the design phases of this site, but we elected to go on word-of-mouth and not really going out to 'invite' people. There are only a handful of people I would have invited and most of then already have an account. :)

There's also a stigma attached to this board since it deals with some of the more 'adult' aspects of Japan outside of the daily-life subjects. I've already been told by a few friends that 'women should not post here...' yeah, whatever, haha!

I can count on one hand the number of people I trust there. :)

It used to have a ton of potential - but that has all been lost on poor management.

There's still a plan on my drawing board to open a more neutral site that's more friendly to all types of expats in Japan. However, those numbers are really dwindling and I'm not so sure another site would be worth the effort. I had come up with an idea for a more regional board for the Asia-Pacific region, but there's really only a handful of countries that would see any benefit from that. Certainly, this isn't my only idea... just one of many.

I think we agreed that if we could keep fresh content, then a new site in same vertical market could potentially do well. If we could take some pieces from the horizontal market as well, it would provide an overall good mix.

For the moment, most of us are busy anyhow. Better to wait, I think.

Anyone see the latest crap going on over there?

It's like watching English teachers throwing mud in a wrestling match.

Gross.

I did invite a few people over here, maybe they will come, maybe they won't.

You are talking about the KansaiBen and Glenski debacle?

More or less, among other crap... it's just really poorly managed overall. (the whole forum I mean)

It seems that that mess has been removed, I don't see it there anymore.

Nothing against English teachers, but the OP of the offending threads seemed to be a disgruntled English teacher. Who really knows for sure though. It was perfectly clear, they had no life.

Seems so.

Drama sells, maybe it was intentional?

GaijinPot is the only forum I really miss. KansaiBen, Glenski, Kurogane, YokohamaTommy, Effected After. Almost everyone had a chip on their shoulder. It was like a real life soap. I wonder how they all doing..

I haven't looked at japan today in a long time, but the comment sections in that were basically a forum, and pretty much every article NO MATTER what it was about, would depend into name calling, arguing, gun control / gay marriage / whale hunting slanging matches.

so to illustrate my point I just clicked on the first article I saw

https://japantoday.com/category/national/giant-panda-cub-xiang-xiang-at-tokyo-zoo-turns-1-year-old

the first (and only comment) on what you would have thought is a nice story about a cute baby panda turning 1 is negative

I remember in the early 90's when some new foreigner was fuming in some forum about how people (meaning white folks in Tokyo) don't greet each other when passing on the street. Yeah, it was that uncommon even in that time, you could basically walk a full day in the middle of Tokyo and not see another white face.

Some old guy commented that "90% of foreigners in Tokyo are weirdos and 99% of them are folks I would not have anything to do back at home so I rather dodge than greet".

I don't know what is the situation now but if one wanders outside TAG in the net forums then one thinks it has not changed at all.

speaking of Xiang Xiang, last month I had a discussion with an escort for a good 15 mins about this lovely panda. Then this shy and quiet lady became open up and wild and gave me a nice BBBJCIM and swallow.

Next time I'll try Xiang Xiang as the ice breaker again and see what will happen....

They've started removing any negative comments on Gaba because of their business relationship. So now you only hear nice things about the company that is actively grinding English teachers into dust through illegal business practices and letting their female teachers get sexually harassed constantly with no oversight.

The Venn diagram of white people from the first world English speaking with mediocre college education, middle to upper class parents, trying to escape the embarrassment of working in Walmart who come to Japan and then don’t succeed spectacularly so write horseshit on the internet all day. It’s just one big fucking circle. No non intersection. All one big intersection. I love grappa.
