Happy New Year all!

I'm back from Kyoto, had a great time! It is back to work for me tomorrow, just dropping in here to start January's thread.

Till tomorrow, have a great evening! ;)

HNY to you too! (tired of typing it out..)
Glad to hear that you made it back safely, catch up with everyone tomorrow!

night!

Hm.

We are working, however a lot of my normal contacts are still on vacation. I cannot really get much done since there are still a lot of companies closed today. Everyone else seems to be returning to work tomorrow or Thursday.

I feel..... like...... I've been....... CHEATED. LOL!

Kyoto was very nice and it certainly was a change in pace from what I am accustomed to. Arriving back in Tokyo felt like a time warp, Kyoto had all of the sites, sounds and smells of old Japan. (what I would have expected old Japan to be like...)

I stayed in this old wooden house and f*ck it was cold! There was snow, wind and the windows of my room were really thin! I had packed my heat tech stuff and thick jammies, thank god I did! My friend's parents were from an older generation of Japan and everything was perfectly normal for them. :( Poor western girl had to adjust!!!

We watched the red & white music thing and had some late night soba before passing out. The next morning we went out and had some yattai food and did the prayer thing.

The rest of the time was spent drinking hot coffee/tea, shopping and marveling at some very beautiful ladies in exquisite kimonos. :)

Oh. There was sake. Oh yes, there was sake. Make no mistake. There was sake.

Hi Everyone.

It seems that my office network has changed their proxy rules and have blocked URL's that contain 'newthread' 'postreply' which means that I can read the forum but can't post shit because of the new rule.

Only way around this is with my cell phone, for now.

New Year was great, nice and quiet, the way I like it. :)

Seriously though, way to go you jackasses in Shibuya on New Year's eve. Great display of idiocy. Wonder why foreigners have a hard time in this country? Great example right there.

Off to a late lunch. Peace to all! (insert thumbs up smiley here) Hint, Hint guys!

What happened in Shibuya on New Year's Eve...for those of us too far away to have heard? A link to some new story maybe? Or a summary in a sentence or two? Please.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the crowd in Shibuya crossing that was wild and rowdy. Some guy kicked a taxi a few times and was hauled off to jail. (Among others I would assume...)

Here's a short example: [Wrong Link... I'll try to find the right one and post it up again.]

Thanks for the explanation and the very entertaining link!

^^This....

Hahaha!

It 'ended' ok since I just passed out! I remember posting something on Facebook and then woke up sometime this morning with a terribly painful headache.

Last night was the first girls night of the year, guess we got too carried away!

I remember the good old days of drunk-dialing/texting... :p

I was usually the recipient of those kind of things.

About a year ago, I would get a phone call from a friend in America but the other end of the line was usually silent. One time, I answered the phone and could hear singing in the background. She was singing her baby to sleep... turned out that she had a very bad habit of leaving her cell phone in her pocket and as a result, lots of 'pocket-dialing' took place. Usually, the last person she talked to... it goes without saying that her calls to me resulted in a lot of wasted money.

@James, thanks!

Back to my hot tea and book, thank god tomorrow is a holiday!

Karen, I think I only ever did it once or twice, and it usually ended before it started :D

Tuesday... feels like Monday.

2nd cup of coffee and I'm still not kicking in to work mode. I'm supposed to be setting up some meetings and updating some media presentations for a client who is flying in next week.

I guess it was just a rough weekend, I'll go for a light lunch and more coffee to see if that helps later.

Happy Tuesday for everyone else who stops by here today. :D

Yawn...

There are still 127 unread items in my company email inbox.

Does that tell you anything about how I feel?

Had Subway for lunch today, a footlong BLT wherein the service girl didn't understand that I wanted a BLT and only onions as an other topping. Logically, this means BLT+Onions but this girl thought I was saying onions only on the toasted bread with cheese. Her co-worker understood what I meant and clearly explained it to her so that I finally could have my sub.

My Japanese was pretty clear, I just don't think she was paying attention to what she was doing or was just new. I'll just assume she was new and figured I couldn't speak Japanese worth a damn.

The morning started off with a coffee and doughnut. I'm ready for a nap now.

Woo! Thursday!

Yesterday was hell. Did you see me posting? Nope!

Today's not all that much better! Trying to work late today so I can get out of here at 5pm sharp tomorrow.

How's your inbox today Chris? :D

I made it to Friday. Somehow, I am still going. Not sure how. Bad shoulder. Woke up to a throbbing toe at 4am. Managed to get to work. When I got there, no pain the toe. But then the pain in my shoulder got worse. Was in a nice Japanese restaurant and my buddy was using every profane word known to man. Got an evil look and I was not even doing the talking.

If I was in my home country I would down 10 ounces of whiskey and call it a night. But good whisky aint cheap in this part of the world. Maker's Mark is Damn High!

What a week! This is the first chance I've had to sit down and take a look here. Had to handle a few email contact requests and I've got a few PM's to answer now.

The social part of my life is all but non-existent right now.

I'm sucking down a few Chu-Hi's from the konbini to chill out. Man I hope working this hard pays off sooner than later.

As I said, CHEAP GUY. :p

Happy Monday all! Can it really be a happy MONDAY????? (not really)

Another busy week ahead, trying to keep it under 60 hours this week.

<3 ~K~

I'm not cheap. I'm economical!!!!! Big difference!

It has been fairly quiet around here this past weekend and today. My personal internet time has really taken a hit lately.

Tonight, I cracked open my collection of music and popped in the now what we call "retro" section. Most of the music I grew up to in the 80's and 90's. Ah the memories. Things have changed so much in 20 years, just crazy when you think about it.

Now I need some food and it's coldddddd outside. Should have stopped on the way home but just flat forgot that I don't have jack at home to eat. Have plenty of chu-hi cans though.

Chris - you have been busy I see.

I too haven't had the pleasure of personal internet time either at work or at home. Lots of important work to be done so that the yen keeps rolling into my bank account. ;)

Hope everyone is doing well during these bone-chilling days!

-Eliah

Friday and I'm exhausted.

Hope you guys have had a better week than I have. :(

Can't WAIT to get out of here and get some relax time in tonight....
