Here are some details of today's updates:

- Markdown Support - Added. (Learn about Markdown here: http://www.markdown-tutorial.com/)
> Parsing support added only, we are not providing a WYSIWYG editor for Markdown.
- Thread Ignore - Added

Note: We will monitor usage of the ignore functions for forums and threads. If we decide that members are blocking too much, we may restrict what can and cannot be ignored. Thanks.

How to ignore threads or forums:

Other Tasks:

- Partial Fix: Under certain circumstances pages were failing due to connection error to Gravatar. (A complete fix is impossible due to third party issues.)
- Fix: Runaway batch job would consume too much system memory.
- Fix: Under certain conditions, server would give users a HTTP 500 error for content that was restricted due to a security rule.
- Fix: Under certain conditions, server would generate a HTTP 404 error for certain graphic files that were over-sized with a certain file extension.
- Fix: Under certain conditions, a login loop was created that would eventually complete with a HTTP 404 error instead of completing the login process.
- Fix: Outdated module for mail handling would, under certain conditions, refuse connections to the external mail gateway.
- Fix: Deprecated code in DB mirror script was updated to remove legacy functions.
- Fix: Backup configuration revised to reduce restoration errors related to duplicate primary key values, which causes restores to fail.
+ Add: Additional capacity for backups, added at a geographically different data center to reduce risk related to loss of data when stored at one location.
+ Add: Infrastructure/Services to begin eliminating single-point-of-failure risks.
# Update: General back-end system updates, routine maintenance work.

Update:

We will perform additional maintenance on Monday, 9/12, to make some changes in order to resolve the navigation issue in mobile mode as well as two other reported bugs that popped up recently.

Thanks for your patience the additional maintenance is now complete.

Summary:

- Fix: Navigation bar on mobile devices became to crowded and pushed 'New Posts' off the screen creating an inconvenience to users.
- Fix: Missing graphics files for iOS devices. (Please see future fix below...)
- Fix: Links with certain characters created a link loop that would end in a HTTP 404 error.
- Update: Resource monitor rules strengthened after recent abuse by users from certain countries.

- Not Fixing: Most likes in 7 days (main page); when a user's post is hidden (logically deleted) the like count is not adjusted. If a user clicks a link in the list of threads where a user's post was liked, the post may not be present because it was removed. This fix is deferred until a later time.

- Future Fix: We are currently building a set of graphics to support all devices. (This is mainly for tile and menu buttons on various devices where TAG's logo is displayed.) A new design with various sizes to suit all devices will be implemented this month (September 2016). (If you have a shortcut to TAG, the icon will refresh itself once it picks up the change after we implement the new set of icons and graphics.)

Regarding Markdown - We are still working on getting this working, but it's proving to be problematic when mixed with the standard BB Code used within the current Redactor editor. We are trying a different parser and maybe implement a switch to use BB Code or Markdown that can be set by each user.

Thanks to the efforts of @deckard - we have further evaluated this issue and have also implemented a fix. The like counts are more factual now.
