Hey guys!!!!

Sure has been a long time since we had one of these monthly threads! I say we bring it back for awhile! It will start to get cooler outside and I'll probably spend more time inside, parked in front of some device with a 'net connection.

Let's see here, it's Monday! Weekend was crap! I was either working at my real job or working here at TAG. Went out with a girlfriend last night, just for dinner and some light drinks. Watched the latest two episodes of The Newsroom and promptly zonked out.

Trotting out for lunch now, bbl. :D

You guys made quite the storm! I picked up a whiff of something going on here at another site, decided to drop in and see what's up.

Sorry that I haven't been around although I hope you all are doing well.

Kias! Wow, long time! /wave :p

Short story time!!!!! Got your popcorn?

You have to admire the Japanese. For all of their skills of displaying socially acceptable manners, they can certainly display the most hideous two-faced monsters that would make an aussie blush!

There is a small clique of Japanese ladies that work in my office, mostly just administrative types, no real bite to their positions. In other words, they bark a lot but can't bite worth a hoot.

Since I'm the token foreigner, I'm rarely extended an invite to lunch or other activity. In another light, they are effectively my subordinates in our great corporate food chain. As you may have guessed, they don't like that one bit. Ok, so the point is that I found out by chance that one of them was dating some Japanese guy who works in the same building, but different company. (smart move) Keep in mind, that these ladies are probably late 20's to mid 30's, none of them are married. (not married and obsessed with K-dramas, probably explains why they are still single?!)

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I bumped into the Japanese guy who is dating one of these ladies. There was some sumimasens and other small talk before this guy's gf from my office comes literally trucking down the ramp towards us with this look of rage on her face, but in a polite Japanese fashion.

You know those faces; they look really cool about it but under that thin layer of flesh, they are hot-to-trot and likely want to take your head off. You have to imagine this woman, fairly large boobs, kind of stocky, almost in a full trot, coming town the ramp with her stride only limited by the hem of her skirt. (would have tossed her a carrot if I had one)

After she applies some brakes in her heels, she comes to a halt at the two of us and I just utter some sweet phrase in Japanese to her bf, something equal to 'see you later gorgeous!' She was hot after that and was back in the office gossiping with the other ladies in her pod.

In the end, it was a necessary payback for the crap I have to put with.

That all said, it's me who is sad! I went back to being single, so I guess she gets the laugh laugh really.

HAHAHAHA!! ;)

So, I am going over to America in October! Luckily, we have picked up some new business from LA and we will be heading out there for finalizing everything.

This random trip will be a nice break for me to get out of Japan for awhile!

Hey there - my 2nd September here... Still assimilating to the culture, food, drink, language and heat. Can someone explain how the Japanese can wear long pants all day, even thick stockings for the women, and sweaters and all that gear when it's 33-34 out????! Is it genetics? Modesty? A super power? I dont get it

There is an expression.
"Oshare wa gaman" Basically means, to be elegant, one must suffer. Just think about the traditional kimono.

I understand.... And its clear that the converse isn't true because I am not getting more elegant the more I suffer...

Thanks.

That's right, cool biz is ending soon. Damn.

Has it already ended for other people? Ours changes at 10/1. :(

Luckily I work in a casual setting, so don't have to dress up unless I'm meeting a client for the first time or other more formal/standard Japanese business situations. It's my second summer here, and it's easily my least favorite season in Japan.

I'll really know when it's fall when all the fashionable Tokyo women switch from short skirts to short skirts and thigh-high socks. :D

Following the Japanese women's fashion is tricky for a non-asian! We don't look as good in their fashions, so as a western woman, I have to really double check what I choose to wear!

What I choose to wear, could be described as a fusion between young and old. I don't wear those flat, boring office sandals that many women wear. I prefer heels when it makes sense and dressy flats when I know there's a lot of walking to be done.

Stockings - just depends on the outfit, my legs are nice with or without (if I don't say so myself, haha!) I've got no clue about men, they just look very drab to me. I just know that they don't wear a coat & tie during the summer months, which is ending very soon.

:)

We are super cool biz... Don't have an end date set. Hope it ends when the weather is reasonable and not on an arbitrary day
