Clicking "new"

Thanks for the report. Will bring it back up for another look.

Apologies for any inconvenience in this case.

This is still ongoing, noticed twice this reading session. As before happens only with reviews, I think I can see them only after someone replies and then clicking the new will direct to the first reply and not the original review.

Thanks - I know what’s causing this and a fix is on the to-do list. Soon™.

This is still happening, either it is only with reviews or I just notice it there but I seem to find some of them only when someone replies to the original review. It seems like a review will not get registered as a new post?

/sigh - Thanks for the report. This is problem, I believe, is going to be mainly for review content since they are held before release. The time flow between release and submission may confuse your own personal position tracking.

I will revisit this again to see what else can be done.

I can now confirm that when this happens the review is not in the "New Posts" count. So it seems the system thinks I've already seen the review though I haven't.

And no, my Alzheimer is not that developed yet. :D

I've also noticed new reviews don't always show up in new posts as well.

I can also confirm - usually have to scroll up on a new review, and it doesn't show on the new feed until someone comments on it.

and it doesn't show on the new feed until someone comments on it.

Which means at least someone sees it so the bug doesn't seem to be very consistent. Maybe there is some kind of internal karma in the system and you see a new review only if you are deemed to be nice.

I think it's because they are in the main thread of that review vice clicking new.

I have decided to enact a new protocol on new reviews from May 13th onward until such a time that I can rework the alerts for new reviews so that it accurately reflects for each member.

Effective 5/13 - I will add a new post to each review indicating it has been approved and the date of approval. Let’s see how that works out to counter the issue you guys are seeing.

There’s no rest for the weary.

We've approved numerous reviews with the new method.
How's this working for those having this issue that's been reported here?

It's good; now the second post (the approval) triggers the New Post count and I get to see the reviews fast with just scrolling up a bit.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you by chance ever use the "Mark Forums as Read" menu option at any point?

Works reasonably well for me as well.

I have use the mark as read function in the past, most recently when I returned from Golden Week and there was a bit of a backlog....

So you just IGNORED all those great posts?!

Thanks for your reply.... this is still not the most ideal solution, a proper fix is still in the plans.
You should be dropped on the first post whenever you see a new object that you've never clicked on before.

I'm still about 5k behind in seeing all those posts out there. ;)

Gentlemen, no idea whether it helps in this case, but quite often, emptying the browser cache, or forcing a complete reload of the site (Windows: ctrl + F5, Mac/Apple: Apple + R or command + R,
Linux: F5, YMMV) will improve matters after changes have been made server-side.

Off all the new reviews you just accepted only one came up as new by itself; all the others got ticked only by your approval post.

Whew, gone a week and almost 1000 messages read...

Anyway, the second post triggers the new post for me as well. Thank you.
