So I will be in Japan in early November and I happened to notice that my favorite band will be playing in a small venue (only 300 capacity) while I'm there. The issue is that the distribution of tickets through Lawson is by a lottery system but I am a bit confused on a few things.

First, I had my local friend apply for the lottery and long story short, we won the opportunity to purchase tickets. Now what confused me is that in the lottery instructions, they mention the window to be notified AND purchase tickets was today through 8/26. But in the email award notification it said tickets to be relased on Oct 5th. This was confirmed when my friend tried to purchase at a Lawson kiosk earlier today.

So the question is this the norm for Lawson lottery system?

Yes, normal. There's a second lottery for the tickets that people fail to purchase in the timeframe specified, and all the tickets get mailed out a few weeks before the show.

Yes, I believe this is the norm. This means that you must pay for the ticket between today to 08/26. You can pick up the ticket at Lawson the earliest on 10/05. I often go to really small concerts around Tokyo and this seems to be the default system at Lawson, 7-11, etc.
