Anyone got any recommendations for nice LUNCH spot with a view? preferably on the east side like Tokyo station area. Somewhere high-end like Shangri la etc (but not that specifically as the restaurants there look a bit soul-less).

Mandarin Oriental ( Nihonbashi)..... restaurants and toilets have good views.

Decent Kaiseki place on 51F, has private rooms, and is reasonably priced.

I know I might get shit on for recommending such a douchey, touristy spot, but I had a very interesting dinner recently at Top Of Tree next to Skytree. Dinner was about 10k/person, but the lunch menu was quite a bit cheaper. Seating was very intimate, good for couples at night. And it was a fantastic view. I got hammered on the house champagne and don't really remember leaving.

There is a restaurant at the Park Hyatt with great view and food . I think it's on the 52nd floor and you had the movie Lost in Translation shot there. On a clear day, rooms facing west have a view of Mount Fuji so you probably can see it too from the restaurant. It's in the west part of Tokyo though.

Ritz Carlton has probably the best view I've seen in Tokyo. I can't remember the Hyatt or Conrad very much since that was 7 years ago. I think the Hyatt was pretty good too. I remember it being a much more romantic ambiance than others.

Just at lunch at Barsac on the 5th floor of ShinMaru. Awesome view of Tokyo station. Highly recommend it.

I second that.
So you’re into the same restaurants too?! ;):)

I did an afternoon tea at Motif in Four Seasons a few year ago, having a good view of trains coming and going. It was very comfortable.

You have a good view over the Imperial Palace from Restaurant Alaska in Takebashi (9th floor, Palace Side Building) if they give you a table by the window. This place wouldn't attract young Japanese girls though (it could be "dasai").

Well, it was good despite being French ;)

Plus, I was there with a 60 year old guy (who sadly is not that much older than I am).

Is the food good at night? I though lunch was well done.

dunno, just went there at lunch a couple of times ... but if you want to impress a SB or GF or your wife or whomever really, I’d rather recommend the brand new Ducasse restaurant, Esterre, in the same area, overlooking the Imperial Palace . Not same price range though...

Agreed. That’s pretty good too!
