Daily WHO Reports for the Coronavirus Outbreak (Link)

Fortunately for me, I'm currently in a state that lacks the key demographics generally required for that sort of behavior and people are far more community-minded than elsewhere in the U.S. I also live at the top of a high-rise condo so logistically it'd be quite difficult to loot my place. That said, the ever-increasing number of transplants coming into this state and city is always cause for alarm so me and a buddy neighbor, a retired Marine Corps GYSGT with even more stockpiled firepower than I have, have a very effective plan if riots or looting ever happen: disable the elevator power supply and take positions guarding the two stairways. Believe me, all the rocks, bricks, clubs and vegan soy lattes at Starbucks aren't going to coax one of those dickless antifa pussies into trying to ascend the stairways once a hail of 7.62 and 5.56 rounds starts raining down all around him.

well if your place is above , say, the 5th floor that may even be enough of a deterrent. :)

I see a potential law case looming in the horizon. I mean disabling the elevator and making one of those antifa guys living in the second floor to climb the stairs must be considered inhuman and torturous act.

Bet it doesnt stop you and your marine buddy jerking off to the fantasy of it though, right?

I am fairly cynical of the "thankyou" efforts that politicians rally behind. They are a smokescreen for the basic problem that governments have not invested properly in healthcare.
I agree with this. Kind of like all the brands sharing a black square on Instagram for the past couple of days. Some brands which didn’t even bother to produce any foundation shade darker than “caramel” until a few years ago are now suddenly the most ferocious defenders of inclusivity and black lives matter movement. It makes me very sick to my stomach to see companies trying to profit from an innocent person’s death. Same goes for the current situation of healthcare workers.

It's nothing new and unfortunately will never end. Someone somewhere is going to be that pos looking to capitalize.

Yeah, I’ve never seen brands and companies get involved in politics like this. I guess there’s a lot of public pressure to do so?

I’ve just completely stopped logging on to social media the past few days. I am so sick of every single person and brand I follow posting about the situation incessantly. I understand that it’s important, but I did my part by being informed and donating, I want to be done with it already. And I was already educated on police brutality/systematic racism before this whole situation anyway. I hate being bombarded with the same info constantly on social media about it! o_O
/rant over.

Same... Honestly I only have surface level knowledge about these issues mainly because I’m not American and I’m more familiar with the refugee crisis and asylum seekers in Europe over police brutality in USA. (However racism, police brutality and government rooted problems are kind of universal.)

Even though I’m deeply sorry for the death of this innocent man, and this injustice breaks my heart I am very hesitant to talk about the subject because I am simply not well versed on it. Maybe I’m not very social media savvy but I don’t think we can judge a person’s true feelings and their track record simply by looking at a black square on their Instagram. (Or lack thereof) I just don’t get the mob culture revolving around this, pushing people into a “us versus them, you’re not with us unless you do this and that on your social media” situation which is not very different than what constitutes discrimination and it shifts the attention from the real problem.

Yep. A lot of white people desperately wanting to show how not racist they are to their friends. Now no-one is talking about coronavirus (which has been shown to affect BAME populations more than white).

The same people in Europe who just a few days ago tried to shame everyone to follow the strict lock-down rules are now in the streets rioting against police brutality in the USA.

I mean I am sure the American cops are following closely these riots and modifying their behaviour based on the signs and slogans that are shown. No doubt about that in my mind.

I am from Europe and have no clue what the fuck is going on. Luckily there are no riots or bigger protests of that sort in Germany, but to me it feels really absurd. I think the only country with a substantial black population is France and I think in general Europa never had a problem with police brutality.
Of course people can show solidarity, but protests and riots in Europa about social problems in other countries feel really out of place.

I still stick to the lockdown rules because I want normality again....at this point in time not caring about them will kill the whole effort.

Sorry this is off topic but..
are they just... not using any AC at all in stations and trains now? I know wearing a mask makes you feel more hot, but my entire body is sweating like crazy just from a few minutes on the train even while wearing super light clothes. It’s unbearable
I’m guessing it’s because they keep open the windows because of the virus?

That's what I've heard. Windows are open, A/C is off.
That will further make life miserable as temps and humidity increases

Now that you mention it, I paid attention today. Luckily all my commute was completely underground, but instead of air conditioning all windows were open.

Should they pull such a prank in my shinkansen tomorrow, you will probably hear about me in the news;)

At least the two subway lines I rode today both had windows open and aircon at full blast.

I saw a close knit group of five hosts in Kabukicho today. (Or scouts? Idk) None of them were wearing masks on the street, talking and laughing loudly in the middle of the pedestrian walkway, I wonder if they bother to wear masks in their club?
Most of the hosts I’ve known have been brain dead self absorbed pretty boys. Pretty sure most of them don’t understand the reasons for wearing a mask in the first place.

Oh come on you’re just jealous
Who wouldn’t like to be a brain dead self-absorbed pretty boy drinking Dom Perignon with ladies paying for their company? :)

Your list started so well for me but I got to full stop at "pretty".

From the Japan Times: "According to local media reports, 59 cases, or about 40 percent of 147 new infections confirmed in Tokyo between June 1 to June 7, were nightlife entertainment workers."

I think they should just shutter host/hostess clubs and equivalent businesses for another month.
