You know what? i think he was too candid , but what he said is certainly true for many of those who voted Republican.
And you just revealed why you're such a fanboy of Obama, because you basically admitted you agree with his sneering, elitist view of people who don't agree with your politics. So people who vote Republican do so because they're poor, lost their jobs and therefore end up racist bigots, hating immigrants and clinging to their bibles and guns? Yeah, good luck with that. Do a Google search on GOP voters/supporters/donors, their median incomes, charitable donations and voter reliability if you really want to feel foolish. And if you ever end up stateside again in a normal centrist locality (and not in a communist stronghold left coast city like Berkeley, Seattle or Portland) do yourself a favor and keep those sentiments to yourself.
If you had a better understanding of the American electorate or political dynamic, you'd understand why that sort of snobby, elitist thinking doesn't play well with working-class American voters and, again, why Trump won in 2016. Obviously, I'm not faulting you for not understanding American politics as I have absolutely zero understanding of the politics in other large nations and take absolutely zero effort to educate myself on those because the truth is I just don't care and at the end of the day I don't give a shit who other countries vote for. It has almost zero bearing on me. The degree to which non-Americans fixate on American politics has always fascinated me but I suppose that's because, whether they like to admit it or not, what we do determines what you do and America is always in the lead. That's why I think Obama was such a hit in Europe, because he basically assured them that 1) America sucked, and 2) he'd let the rest of the world dictate what America did from now on (i.e., why he wanted to allow the UN to dictate American foreign policy). Well, that obviously didn't play very well with Americans because Trump is president and most of Obama's attempts at diplomacy and social engineering have been terminated. Again,Trump is president for a reason, and it's not because he was a wonderful candidate.
Honestly, this is getting tiresome and reminding me of why I exited politics to begin with. It's one thing to debate policy issues with D.C. political operatives who actually understand the specifics and realities but it's an entirely different animal trying to reason with foreigners with a hundred different whimsical (and often misguided) foreign opinions on American policy.
If I can be so helpful I will leave you with this advice, and as a former Hill staffer and bi-partisan campaign operative, this is as truthful as I can possibly be. If you are a non-American wasting your time engaged in spirited debate over American politics and policy, please remember:
1) Whatever your opinion may be, no matter how passionate, rest assured that nobody in America gives a shit.
2) Whatever your opinion may be, no matter how passionate, rest assured that you can scream and shout all day long and you will have ZERO impact on American governmental policy. Go ask that autistic mini-cunt, Greta Thunberg, if you have any doubts.
3) Whatever your opinion may be, no matter how passionate, at the end of the day the only thing that matters is money. This is America. Both sides were bought and sold a long time ago. At the end of the day, the deciding factor in politics is the same as business, and that's money. So unless you're willing to throw down seven figures, nobody gives a shit what you think so you're better off saving your energy for other more fruitful endeavors.
I'm going to go numb myself with a few vodka shots and forget I wasted ten minutes writing this. Goodnight, folks.
