Better question...what will happen if Japan has to postpone the Olympics again?

I don't see another postponement coming. If they can't (and if I was a betting man (*) my money would say they can't) have them next spring then they will be forced to cancel.

And that would be the first positive thing to come out of the covid19 ever.

(*) But hey, I am! My Biden money is now on my bank account waiting for Miran to come back or me getting too horny regardless.

They probably won't postpone them - but I do expect that Japan won't be fully open to the world by that time.

The [Japanese] government has a timeline or at least has signaled that they expect to deliver the vaccine to all residents of Japan by Golden Week 2021. Soooo... that's a good target,
IMHO, first world countries will get vaccinated fairly quickly but poorer, 2nd, 3rd level countries will probably struggle.

If I had any Biden money, I'd probably put it on the Olympics being cancelled, also. The way I see it, absolute best case scenario, the US/UK begins wide-scale vaccination in March or April, and I'm guessing the rest of the world (including Japan) will probably lag at least a month or so behind that since everyone is waiting to see what happens to us first. No way is this pandemic going to be "under control" by June or July, at least to the extent that any country, Japan in particular, will want to welcome hundreds of thousands of foreigners flooding in to be packed into stadiums and arenas for days on end.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I hope not. If the Olympics get cancelled, the visitor industry is going to be utterly desperate to recoup costs going into mid-late-2021, which is pretty much when I realistically expect I can make a trip to Japan again. Getting penthouse suites again for $150/night AND Miran is back to work? And if I'm really, really lucky, still no Chinese? Yes, please. Another year of waiting is going to result in some wet and explosive incidents in Gotanda next November.

This just in............

The city of 14 million people will ask restaurants and bars to close at 10:00 p.m. from this Saturday until Dec. 18.

I always find these requests kinda weird. Does the virus just stop spreading after 10pm and be like: yeah, it’s 10pm now. Let’s go home and sleep. o_O
I thought the same about some sports studios in Germany where you have to wear a mask for going in and out the studio but not during the actual workout. Like, yeah the virus just stops at the door and waits patiently until people go back out and wear their masks....

its not all black or white, the goal is to lower infections numbers, not to try to get them to zero at all costs. its like the mask... does it prevent all risks? No. Is it useless most of the time? Yes. But statistically speaking, on a large population, better to use it than not

Of course it’s only to help lowering infection numbers but I find those hours still to be extremely questionable....

Agreed, could be sooner, later... i guess they just try to strike a balance between bankrupting a whole sector and getting more infections. Not a fun period to be in government imo.

Definitely true. I wouldn’t want to be in their position right now.... :censored:

I haven't been paying attention, but I thought 2021 was the last chance saloon.

Light bulb!: cancel the 2022 Beijing winter olympics as punishment for human rights abuses, screwing up Hong Kong and incubating viruses and let Tokyo host the summer olympics in 2022.

You got it totally wrong! As it's the other way around; the virus lurks there and exactly at 10pm it will go on attack mode. So if people go home earlier they are totally safe.

Even more confusing was a cafe I was a while ago; they had to stop (for whatever rule I have no idea) selling drinks at 6pm. But it was totally fine to stay there after that for like two more hours. So what that is telling me they have figured out the virus gets into a shop, runs around looking for someone to infect but then it notices that the cash register is not open anymore and goes "oh fuck, guess I cannot infect anyone now". o_O

The idea is that you'll cut down on the number of drunks in public doing stupid things like screaming at each other etc.

So then everyone will just get drunk and shout at each other before 10pm :p
I didn't say it was a GOOD idea.

Putting a time limit on me just means I drink faster....

Reminds me of the parents who put the strict curfew on the girl thinking it’ll protect their little princess from doing bad things. Nope, we just end up doing stuff earlier in the night. :D

Well, what a good girl does if she is not in bed by 10PM?

She goes home.

That's no joke, especially for some one as shy, modest and proper as myself, it was such a traumatic experience being 16 and getting a blowjob in my Toyota at 5:45pm, parked outside her parents' house while elderly couples walking their dogs passed by, occasionally peering into my car because my facial expressions probably caused concerns that I was experiencing a medical emergency. It's nice that nobody calls the cops on kids for indecent exposure.

considering how dense tokyo is, i'm suprised you guys didnt get screwed like NYC did in the first wave.

Actually, the number of confirmed cases in Manhattan is lower than Nassau, Suffolk or Westchester. Westchester is understandable as the south part of it is almost the Bronx, but why Suffolk got so many...?? It's not population density that matters. Still, I'm wondering how people get infected in places like Wyoming and Dakotas...
