Hi

Does anyone know where to have some adult fun in Nagoya?

I've been to Osaka Tobita shinchi, is there something similar to that in Nagoya?

If not, what are the alternatives?

Thanks in advance

On the Shinkansen leaving for Tokyo? There is nothing like Tobita shinchi in Nagoya, or in any other city in Japan either.

Nagoya is a specially tough place for foreigners. They do have soaplands and most of them you won't even be able to try to open the door before a staff member runs out with his arms crossed.

But if you dress smartly, talk fluently and do your legwork you might find a soap that lets you in.

Osaka

Many years ago Nagoya was a great place for foreigners, but practically overnight signs appeared in doorways banning foreigners either explicitly or with vague mentions of "members only". This wasn't just health and soaplands, but nightclubs, snacks, even Filipino bars.

Cool Thanks for the info guys, guess i'll just sightsee around town

Nagoya is notoriously gaijin-UN-friendly, and even then they really don't have anywhere near the level of entertainment found in Tokyo, and certainly nothing like Tobita. A client of mine had a couple of businesses in the Sakae area (closest thing to red-light district) which I was told included girly bars and possibly a porn production company, and even he told me that if I ever found myself in Nagoya and wanted to have a good time I should absolutely call him because I--even being ethnically Japanese, speaking the language decently and having lived in Japan for a long time--would most likely not be welcome in those joints.

I don't mind Nagoya, but there really isn't much to do there. If you're staying downtown and enjoy good beers, absolutely do check out Y Market Brewing. It's a few blocks walk from Nagoya Station, closer to Kokusai Center Station, and it's probably the only nice thing in the entire city. A bit pricey but some pretty decent craft beers, nice layout, good food--just be careful not to fall down the fucking stairs on your way out as it's on the 2nd floor and those stairs are steep and narrow. If you're slumming it and want to feel particularly pathetic, hit the HUB in Sakae; after that, just to forget how pathetic you are for actually going to a HUB in Nagoya, there's a Miraizaka downstairs with 700-yen pitchers of cheap white wine. Now THAT is a winning way to go out.

There are a few street walkers along the Hori river canal near Naya bashi.
I walked past a bit drunk one night and had a good chat with a few. Some are keen, others avoid eye contact.
