Addressing Doorman & Security Out Front Of Venues

Whilst not enough to be blindingly obvious, other Asians tend to pick I'm a halfie into Japanese fashion, (skinny chinese/aussie mix) & speak basic conversational japanese, can read kana though I still need a few more years of kanji practice.

It's been written many times the more Japanese you speak the more opportunities you'll have available. What is the correct term to address the security/doorman out front when speaking general chit chat to prove you know at least Some japanese &/or understand the general pink light system ? Some suitable basic phrases would be appreciated
 
If he's young: お兄さん
if he ain't: おじさん

I just walk up like I am meant to be there and come there a lot. Then I speak Japanese. I have found that if you ask are "Gaijin OK?" They usually say, "No." Not sure why that is. So I never ask. I walk up and they may
give me the crossed arm sign or say, "Sorry no Gaijin." And I politely walk away. However, the confident approach often works. I do often start with "Kyo wa, hajimete kimashita kedo...." and leave it to them to ban me or invite me in.
They usually invite me in.

If you look Japanese, all you need to do is make eye contact, a lightning quick head nod, mutter 'domo' and brush right past the guy into the shop.
 
Unfortunately the true language test awaits at the 受付. Hard to head nod your way through that.
 
That's where age is an advantage. If you look like a surly Japanese middle aged man, grunts suffice.

I neither dress nor look middle aged, (I'm 35 looking 25) so seniority card is out for me, I'd likely to be better off either getting a trendy spikey haircut or going for the akihabara/harajuku kid skipping college as it's how i like to dress at home anyway
