What type of company do you work for?

Are you an expect? Are you working for a foreign company operating in Japan, or a very Japanese domestic company?

Perhaps you are simply just a tourist?

I am curious where TAG members work. What would be the distribution between foreign and Japanese companies? Let' see!

*Overseas Sales

*Foreign company but not too happy!

But I have the experience to work in a 100% Japanese company in my home country, were non of the manager were able to speak English and Spanish, and it was the first time out of Japan. It seems it was kind of punishment for them. :hungover:

Somebody told me that is the kind of things Japanese company do when they want fire somebody

I should have added this in the initial posting, but I was too excited, to come clean about this, and so I ended up frantically pressing the refresh button to see how people voted.

Japanese domestic company for me. An older (30+ years) and larger one, which operates in different countries (with difficulty as you might imagine).

Ah, the glorious overtime... busy weeks leave me so tired, that the only bed partner I want to have some quality time with, is my beloved and trusted pillow.

I feel like a Tourist right now.
I get a salary and don't compensate by any kind of work. I take initiative and make tourist trips, side projects and whatnots.
(it won't last etc., but it's a stable and enjoyable situation :) )

My "normal" day job is in a japanese company.
The funny thing is that the big boss (in 3 years i saw him only twice, the company has several locations but he's always at the head office) is a japanese who converted to islam, so we have a lot of customers from muslim countries. They bring delicious omiyage:)
Much better than japanese customers and their senbei:yuck:

Difficult choice for me.
I have the liberty to change how I make money depending on the conditions.
For example, if I need a visa, I work for a japanese company temporary.
If I have enough money, I take big vacation and live on my reserves.
If I need more money, I work for the highest bidder foreign company.
I use different companies depending on my need of the day. (I'm very skilled in some specific domains)

I have a regular FT position with a large Japanese company.
However, in judging the comments from friends and people here, I think we are pretty progressive.

Separately, I have my own business that is working it's way up (in Japan), but there's not enough cash flow to replace my FT job, yet.

Ideally, I want to spend part of the year in another country and the rest in Japan. That is my golden plan...

I've mentioned before, but I work for a domestic HR consulting firm. Hours can be oppressive at times, but it's generally fairly interesting work with a lot of challenging situations. Hopefully I'll be changing to an in-house position for one of our larger clients this year, though. :)

Well crap. Quietlife blew my cover. Now, there are some people in Japan who will suddenly think Quietlife is me.

Well he's not. I'm me.

....aaaand I am an idiot. Should have kept my damn mouth shut.

Tell them to message me; I'll assure them we are not one and the same. I am far too kinky ;)

Same here. Our company cafeteria has a fully stocked bar from beer, scotch, whiskey, red/white wine to Chuhai. Just grab whatever bottle you want from the cupboards and you're happy. The ironic part is the company is in the H2O business.
