This is getting ridiculous - today, nearly every train I've been on so far has had at least 2 police officers and the stations have had those regular looking people wearing bright orange vest enblazened with the word 'Security'.

Even the usual maintenance guys are wearing the bright orange security vests.

Wish they'd send these meetings to America so they can use all their toys.

I'm still baffled at why the meeting in Mie requires so much compromise in Tokyo.

Can't imagine what Hiroshima is going to be like when President Obama lands there later this month. Maybe I should go to Hokkaido to make sure I'm safe. Oh wait, that's too close to Russia. Ha.....ha.....

In the past few, I've also seen police stop people to inspect their backpacks. This is the only thing I don't want happening to me ... cause it is going to be a total time waster. (Like reporting your accomplishments at work every day, then sending an e-mail on Friday to report your ... accomplishments ... think this should be on the other thread)

The prefectural police there was already patrolling the "Hokuto" trains about a month ago.

Complicated terror plots require weeks of staging and preparations in advance. If there was a plot going on to screw up the G8, those actors and elements would be moving through Tokyo right now.

The cops are right on time in regards to flooding the cities and making their presence known.
