White Guy In Kabukicho - Homeless?

Pretty much... if someone is holding a PR status or a Japan passport -- then that's exactly what happens. I'm assuming that he's been stopped before and he must have shown some sort of ID, otherwise he wouldn't be out on the street.

If no valid ID > taken to local police box/station > once nationality/status is determined > (ok: released, not ok: immigration gets involved)

Understood. That's a good point... I think it's fair to say either Asian or Caucasian as a base point.

what if he doesn't tell them his nationality.. where do they deport him to?

I agree if you agree that no one is white. "wasp" americans, irish, english, scandinavian... people aren't white either.
White represents an ethnic group or racial classification too. It can be seen as another way to say Caucasian. It's not simply being used for color.

Furthermore, Asians who want to be White or identify as White, aren't going to be accepted as such by most/many Whites. It's like a White British guy with blonde hair and round eyes claiming he's Asian. Most Asians would laugh at this too.

If it's a white guy, and he's been living rough for a while, best guess is that he has PR and has fallen on hard times or chosen to live that way. I believe there's an ex-Japan Times writer who has PR, is now virtually unemployable, is on the dole in Japan, and spends much of his time loafing about with homeless guys in Ueno park.
Even if you are a permanent resident, you must report in to immigration every 7 years. PR status can be revoked.

Nowhere, he will just rot in jail. Unless someone claims him, or he realizes he is being really stupid for not telling his nationality.

If a person is PR and been in Japan for that long, it's debatable if they should have switched over to being a citizen. At least as a Japanese citizen, they could have applied for welfare.

PR status can be revoked.

Only if you are put in to jail for a year or more or if you try to overturn the government.

The best visa law is still reserved for the spouses of Japanese nationals. It can be revoked if you "fail to continue to engage in the activity as a spouse for six months or more". So remember to get it going at least twice a year or you can be deported!

it depends where. in north africa the whites are not caucasians (although I fill the case "caucasian" when given the choice in a list as it's the closest one).
in asia the japanese and the corean are white compared to the people in thailand. if you call them yellow then they should call "you" pink.
it's better to use real ethnic group's name rather than a color. even in europe you can be more specific saying "slaves", "german", "scandinavian", "hispanic" ...

No matter how much you argue against it, using white and black as a qualifier for ethnic groups is fairly widespread, I think especially in America, and it is an English language term, although it is also present in other European languages I think.

Yellow I rarely ever hear unless it's in yellow fever. The term Asians is much more prevalent.
North African people are neither white nor black, albeit due to migration there might of course be white and black.

Differentiating by color or ethnic is a sensitive topic, as it is often in proximity to discrimination, but nevertheless if you use English, you have to stick with the meaning something has in English and adjust your translation accordingly. Not everything can be translated by the word and some words may not even have an equivalent.

I don't know going to jail means he has 3 meals and a roof...

Not saying it's proper but there's some food for thought.

In in my home country in the US some people seriously would rather be in jail, because they get fed, have a roof, and don't really have to work.

I heard it could be pretty bad for foreigners actually...
How did we even ended up talking about jail for the homeless (?) guy?! Hahah

Poor guy, he didn't know he has stirred a very long thread. Talk about being gossiped lol

In Japan they often say that homeless people like their "freedom".
Not sure if it goes for everyone. But i also think i'd prefer an insecure life over always a full tummy and no freedom.

And i heard japanese jail isn't that bad :ROFLMAO:
As far as i heard the guard are super strict. There is no air conditioning or heather. And the food is just rice and miso soup over and over.
Also heard if they catch a guy masurbating or find sperm on his sheets he gets punishment.
The detentions are things like having to sit in an empty room staring at a wall for sometimes days. I would go insane.

It's certainly a save place compared to some jails because the guards are sharp on watch, but it's not a hotel in Japan.

I dunno, leave the "white" Asians out in the sun for a few weeks and see if they turn yellow or pink. Or go to Jeju or Nagasaki and see how White these Japanese or Koreans are.

Once you have permanent residence status you never need to go to Immigration again. As mentioned you just have to pop into City Hall after a number of years to get a new Residence Card. Be careful not to give misleading info. Some people believe everything they read on the Interwebs....

Card renewals are done at the yakuba aren't they?

Don't need renter permits anymore .

Yeah but that only changed four years ago. So I am quite sure I visited them five years ago to pay the bribe for re-entry. And then again year ago to change the card.

They basically turn gold or brownish.
Ever seen oraora boys or gyaru? Not so yellow.

do you think the cow boys under the sun weren't tanned as well ?

Ok Then, Texan Cowboys and Thai Rice Farmers are the same tanned white ethnicity. I am often confused between the two. Really?

And Gyaru are fake. If I put black make up on a white person, that has no effect on their ethnicity. But then again, when I see a gyaru, I am often left to question if they are a white woman. I am often doing double-takes when I am in Shibuya, wondering which women are white and which women are asian. Wait, wha?

Do you know why emojis are yellow? Because they come from Asia.

well if you didn't understand it before it's about time. my very point is that white men can be of different ethnicity (same for black people).
I talked about tanned western people because you taked about tanned japanese.
if you can see them as tanned it means they are originally white.

ps : then the pink emoji must be WASP :p

Gyaru engage in suntanning, it's not only makeup.
And gyaru-o and ora ora boys just tan, they don't use makeup.
