40's white male. Will be on my own in Tokyo (Shinjuku) for about 3 months.
Recommendations welcome on good spots in town where I can go to meet single Japanese women (i.e. areas or restaurants where Japanese ladies might be looking to meet gaijins my age)?

There is a chain of British-style pubs called HUB that are popular spots Japanese people go to try to meet-up with (mostly English-speaking) foreigners. Here is a link:

There are a few in your general part of town.

To be clear, they often have a sort of lame atmosphere and at times can be dead or useless for meet-ups, but imo they are about as good a bet as any place (assuming you don't speak English). There is a lot of info on this site about other places, such as bars in Roppongi and Shibuya or in hotels etc; typically you'll find a mix of pros in those crowds...really GREAT pros I might add.

Yup. If you don't speak Japanese, HUB is a good place to go to meet women who are at least interested in speaking English and sometimes interested in more. You can also look at various online options like japancupid and the like. You might not get too far if you are only going to be there 3 months, as many Japanese women are looking for something longer term.

Thanks guys - HUB it shall be. I'll be in Shinjuku and I see a few places there. I'll also be working near Hibiya and I see there's also one there. I'll keep you posted if anything materializes.

I'm assuming the one in Kabukicho will be more for the pros, so will give that one a miss at the beginning.

You might want to poke around on TAG to find info about specific HUB locations. I recall such the topic being discussed off-and-on in various threads but don't remember well enough to give you a specific pointer.

Good luck!
