    The Next US President is....

This map is so misleading too, it makes it seem like red represents most Americans, when the reality is the vast majority of the US population lives in the blue areas. Red parts are sparsely populated, majority rural and poorly educated, and/or hopelessly gerrymandered (as someone from the red...

I wonder if you’ve seen people order a side of rice with noodles, lol. I’ve noticed people love their carbs here, but the giant serving of white rice with every meal is a bit much for me personally

    Topics for an Indie's blog?

I think this is part of why so many people see the porn industry as abusive. Not because of the concept of porn or sex work, but because the actresses tend to be coerced into more and more extreme shoots that they aren’t comfortable with, as the industry demands increasingly hardcore stuff. E.g...

Not sure if this is what you're talking about, but the needless formalities kind of annoy me at times. How much collective time does it waste as everyone says "よろしくお願いします" "お疲れ様です" etc and other formalities that mean nothing

I sincerely believe katakana is the reason Japanese people uniquely struggle so much with English. Many (most?) languages actually use the original English words instead of bastardizing them completely. Not even just the pronunciation but changing the meaning altogether! That must be so hard to...

    The Anything Goes Thread

“Self love/ self care” on social media = buying a ton of (unethically produced) products you don’t need through endless consumerism, to attempt to fill some empty hole in your life that advertising put there in the first place. Welcome to capitalism!

Is this some code I'm missing, or just small talk?

This was a culture shock I had with my Korean friends. Them: "Have you eaten?" Me: "Uh... no, not yet. Were you wanting to get food together or something?" Them: "No, I ate already" Me: confusion

    The Next US President is....

Funny how after trump telling all his supporters to not vote by mail-in, most of the mail-in votes are for Biden! Crazy how that works, huh? :D Must be fraud...

Go To Travel / Go To Eat: your feedback?

I'm pumped about this too! Sadly it only covers Tohoku and Nagano/Niigata... (Everywhere I desperately want to travel to in Japan is outside of this area, lmao) But still! Anyone decided to use this yet, and if so what areas do you guys think would be good? Yamagata and Nagano sound nice to me.

Wow! (Also just to be clear I wasn't referring to opiates or anything, just regular tylenol /aspirin which tend to be weaker here and 90% contain caffeine)

Yes, I always bring a lot of painkillers from the US. The dosage in japan is soo low, and all of them contain caffeine! Like wtf?! So if I’m in pain before bed, it’s a choice between sleep and being pain-free... o_O I think japan as a society doesn’t use or trust painkillers. I heard most women...

Something similar - when shops use "menu" for things that aren't food or drink. Like hair salons that have a "menu" sign in front listing their services.

Who would non-Americans vote for in Nov?

If you actually think having a powerful military and lots of millionaires is worth a huge amount of people "falling through the cracks" and suffering, I really don't know what to tell you. No facts or logic will convince you to have empathy. And your racism is pretty obvious.

Who would non-Americans vote for in Nov?

I think a lot of people are open to universal/socialized healthcare, but disagree on how it should be done, taxes, etc. I don't think Americans are less ethical than the rest of the world... politics are kind of a shit show everywhere, and the US is a huge country so the situation varies a lot...

This is the only real answer... Anyone who doesn't vote for me this November, watch your back :punch:
