So with the Olympics coming to Tokyo in 2020 and the influx of foreigners flocking to Japan for the event, I assume many of the foreigners will partake of Japan's soaplands, agencies, independent escorts, etc.

With that in mind, will mongering become more dangerous to participate and the risk become greater and linger for a while after the Olympics? Right now, it appears Japan's Std/Sti rates are considerably lower than other countries, but with all these foreigners coming will they spread Std/Sti to escorts, etc. and spoil Japan's reputation. Yes, I understand most diseases are curable and protection is wise, but still you can contact some Std/Sti's from bbbj, daty, etc. where protection is not the norm.

Pretty sure the majority of shops will adopt a "no foreigners" policy for the duration of the games. I know a couple of my regular places are already thinking of that.

Would guess most foreigner mongers are used to wearing rubbers instead of the Japanese guys who travel regularly to Thailand and Philippines and then come back to use those advertised "0.00 condom" soaplands and other services.

Perhaps they can try out their discriminatory policies next year during the rugby World Cup:(

I read that most soaplands and related obvious adult businesses will be forced to close during the Olympics (at least in greater Tokyo). That’s not the image that Japan wants to send to the world.

I can’t remember where I read it, maybe here, that there is real concern that they won’t be allowed to reopen after the games are through. The source I read sites Osaka as an example. I’ve never been to an Osaka sex establishment, but I hear there are no soaplands anymore, due to some global conference held there years ago.

Be prepared and enjoy soaplands in Tokyo while they are open. We really don’t know what will happen after the Olympics games are over.

I’ll just be watching the women’s gymnastics and jerking off anyway.

That's pure speculation. I'd wager that if they actually tried that, the licensed businesses would sue for obstruction of business.

It happened before the Expo '70, but Osaka maintains old-style brothels in those "-shinchi" locations. Thus it just prevented those "restaurants" from being converted to soaplands (or what was then called "Turkish bath").

Tokyo wouldn't be a cool place to travel to during the Olympic games for single males. I don't think there would be a significant impact on the Japanese p4p scene.

Unless you're a single male who happens to come for the Olympics. I am sure there are some who will come to watch the games. I personally plan on being out of country during that month.

There are of course some single males who would come to see the games, but the number will be far less than that of single males who came for the 2002 Football World Cup.

TBH I think the Rugby Workd Cup will see more of a spike in terms of visitors wanting sexual services than the Olympics .
Longer period / male dominated sport etc.

Don’t think many synchro swimming or rythemic gymnastic fans will be swamping Yoshiwara.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna try and visit Tokyo for the Olympics! Not sure if I'll plan on staying in the city outside of that though since I'm sure the crowds will be pretty bad.

I had assumed it would go the opposite way, and they would try to open up more to foreigners to take advantage of the influx. I guess I was wrong.

What has often happened in past Olympics is that the games scare off regular tourists who fear crowds of fans and high prices. Foreigners who simply want to see Japan are likely to visit during a time when the games are not being held.

BTW, there will be lots of officials, support staff, and journalists. Indeed, there will be more of those people than actual competitors. The prospect of having so many overseas journalists hanging around could result in a government crackdown on some aspects of the nightlife scene.

Yep, during London Olympics in 2012 they actually had less tourists in there than normally.

From the staggering volume of condoms the athletes go through usually, I think Japan's nightlife will get a boost instead.

I think it's more likely that the tourists will get STDs from the soaplands and other shops. I don't trust that Japan's knowledge on STDs would improve. 生AF is still being advertised by various shops here and there.

Most of that action is actually inside the Olympic village, I don't think many of them will take the risk of being seen outside.

Which is good as those girls are in a shape where you'd need to be a professional athlete too to be able to take care of them!

A couple of my regular bars are actually planning to require a zairyu card or health insurance card for admission while the RWC is on. They don't want any part of the tourists.

Yoshiwara is in the total outbacks and not close to any station. They wont have to shut that down because the tourists wont come through it.
Now, they will crack down in Shinjuku most likely since its were the olympics will be held. But many of the soaplands there look discrete and would be hard to recognize as erotic business by tourists. Maybe they will crack down on some less official establishments. And hopefully they will do something about the touts because those speakers on the streets warning tourists for “street hawkers” and scams are more embarrassing than any establishment could possibly be.

Also even if they crack down on Yoshiwara, Kawasaki is basically just as far for Tokyo mongers.
Less foreigner friendly of course but that may change if Tokyo would be without any resources.

The happening bars are doing this already.

With the behavior from tourists recently, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of places adopt this policy. It's totally legal, and simple for staff to understand.

Picturing 2 (or more!) people at their physical peak just going at it, the imagination runs wild...

Although, just because you're fit doesn't mean they'll be good at sex. Being a disappointing lackluster affair would actually be kinda funny too.
