News 3/27/2017 Bots!

Thanks for your patience. We briefly took down the site to capture the network traffic for a detailed inspection. We also performed a system integrity check and no issues were found.

We do get bot infestations from time to time, but since the site is relatively small... it's easy to contain and so far there's no real impact.

Color me baffled... but we're still seeing a multitude of bots hitting TAG for no real purpose. They seem to like Alice's review, here. (check the view count)
Nothing else seems to be happening, except viewing that one review. We did implement some counter measures, but found that real visitors were getting caught up in the mix because of the shared networks being used.

At this point, the only real issues are:
  • Skewed Logs
  • False View Count for Alice's Review
and in the big picture, those really aren't issues.

If you ever pay attention to the 'Members Online (Guests)' tab, please know that a good percentage of these 'guests' are bots of some type.

Hopefully, if someone is purposely doing this.. please feel free to contact me and tell me why, lol.
