Hello Everyone!
Tuesday, March 31st will mark the end of the current Japanese financial year. Inline with the closure of the financial year, we will performing some maintenance on the site this week.
The planned maintenance will include upgrades and patches to our infrastructure and some additional development updates to help expand the site a bit further.
For our regular members and visitors, you should not see much impact nor much of a visual change at least for now. Once the maintenance window has closed by our announcement, please report any new bugs or issues that may crop up afterwards.
Planned Maintenance Targets:
- [FIX] Unresponsive pages in certain circumstances which causes the HTTP server to get bogged down due to cyclic loop.
- [FIX] Memory leak in certain circumstances that causes the session cleaner and trash cleanup to fail and thus causing an error loop that is connected to the issue above.
- [FIX] "Thread not found" errors in cases where certain characters are used in the title of a thread.
- [FIX] Broken design on certain mobile devices when rotating from portrait to landscape mode.
- [FIX] Valid email address that are not blocked being marked as invalid which causes new member registration to fail.
- [FIX] Broken image links on cached images due to a disk read error.
- [FIX] Editor on non-standard pages causes excessive memory usage resulting in OOM error.
- [FIX] Search index corruption - a repeating issue when certain requirements are met.
- [Maintenance] DB/OS Patches and Security Fixes
- [Maintenance] PHP revision
- [Maintenance] Upgrade of monitoring tools
Security & Content Protection:
We are considering restricting access to some content in the way of permitting a limited amount of viewing by non-registered guests. We have finding more cases of TAG getting 'scraped' for content which is being copied to other sites that was not permitted by TAG management. There will be a RFC (request for comments) thread about the implementation of such a rule. Please look for the relevant thread in the feedback and suggestions forum. [Link to RFC Thread]
Lastly, some non-specific framework updates to allow us to implement some changes and features for our future plans but no significant impact on members or visitors.
