African-american Serious About Av Casting Call

Hi guys,

New to the forum. This looked like the most appropriate section so I'm posting here. I live in Japan.

I've searched the forums and I have done some reading on threads where being cast in AV was discussed. The general consensus is its possible but very difficult. Much easier if you're black seeing as how its more "different" and can play into the interracial fetish a lot better.

I have done a ton of research on my own and have found several studios which seem to produce lots of IR. DANDY is one that comes to mind. I've seen the black actors in many of these movies (as mentioned I'm 100% serious about this) and most of the time they have stomachs and look out of shape. Sure some have a gigantic dick but most have regular sized dicks (obviously bigger than most JP guys). I am in much better shape, work out regularly, and think this can be an advantage.

I'm wondering if anyone here can point me in the right direction for casting calls. Specifically casting calls for interracial/black actors needed. I have seen that Japan has gone to Singapore and Taiwan recently to look for male talent. It seems all around the pool is dwindling so there has to be calls out there. It's just about where to look.

Do I need to look on production studio websites or craigslist?

I reached out on the BBS of a production company that I know produces a lot of interracial. I wrote in pretty simple Japanese and put my email address. We'll see if I hear anything.

I did see articles like I mentioned about studios doing casting calls, but I can't seem to find one of the casting calls themselves - even for Japanese men.

I am studying Japanese and getting better quickly. I can look out for these casting call ads but do you mind just giving me a general direction? I haven't been here long so I don't know would these appear in newspaper ads? If so, which ones are most likely? For example in the states someone might say back page, or CL, or one of those cheap newspapers.

If anyone can just point me in the right direction I'll take it from there!

There is a very important reason for this. The supply of black actors in JAV is very small, in fact close to non existent. This is because unless you have:
a) Japanese citizenship
b) A spousal Visa
or possibly;
c) permanent residency

then you have no chance. Not legally anyway. All the consistent black actors in JAV are in their 40s/50s and married with kids. They are legally able to do the job because the spousal visa does not forbid it. All other student/work visas do.

I didn't hear about Taiwan but I believe the Singapore one was a hoax. If memory serves it was an April fools joke.

I will just take this opportunity to point out that there may be an opening for you as the most prolific black actor in JAV recently passed away, I believe from cancer at the age of 46. He left behind a wife and young son.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor, but unless you speak fluent japanese and are married to a very understanding japanese woman, then I'm afraid your chances are pretty slim.

They have videos where they "fly to LA" which I've seen many of and I'm from there (that's another question, I'm not sure how they find the guys out there. I looked briefly into that while I was there. Maybe through LA studios?). They can film a scene in a room and there is no proof that room isn't in the US.

I want to give the industry a go, but at this point I don't need to be the most prolific black jav actor out there. I'm in my late 20s so I have a lot of longevity if those are the ages those guys are, plus I keep in quite good shape regularly through my regimen so the stomach has a low chance of occurring. Also 100% of the actors I've seen (seen a ton of IR jav have close to zero English skills).

Some other posts here mentioned things about soapman casting calls. I'm not sure exactly what that is but aren't those roles the guys with the ski masks and the group videos? Whatever avenue I have to take to enter I'm exploring. If I just gave up every time someone on a forum told me I have no chance I wouldn't have accomplished half the things I have thus far. This is something I want to do and have wanted to do since I was like 14.

Where there is a will there is a way. I have an opportunity here in Japan and I can't let it go without giving it everything I've got.

I still have the question though, if anyone has seen any casting calls could you please let me know which publications you saw them in etc? I plan on monitoring these.

Please do not discuss visa dodging here. You need a visa to work in Japan, period. If you want to work for a JAV production company, in Japan, then you need a valid visa that permits your work. Any filming or payment done in a country where you are legally permitted to work, is a different story.

It seems like most of them came over because of the Army/Navy. You can dig around and find details if you're interested. The most prolific one still working (the guy from ATID-470), has answered a few questions on Scanlover and seems to be a regular at Hub Shinjuku if you're really desperate for answers.

I have been in a few porno's here in Japan. My suggestion is a bit unique but it works. Find current AV女優 girls and they will connect you. Find your favorite(s) on twitter or IG and DM them, you will need pics of yourself, not naked ones. The black AV actors have screen names and you can seek them out by google. Email them, they will answer your questions. I have a few black AV actors as friends and they are always on the look out for the next gen of black actors here. Albeit, they will take a cut of the action, but who doesn't want that.

On top of my 2 replies, this is a key point. I just assumed that the OP has a valid work visa here. If you are cruising through Japan on vacation, and you uncover one of those Craigslist porn/model/photo shoot companies, be careful.

If you have a valid work visa, always accept payment by furikomi, the electronic money transfer. Never take cash. Once you are accepted, reputable companies will pay half or some amount up front before the shoot. As long as you delivery the super money shot, you will get the rest. And, factor in spending more time than the allotted shoot, you can often take the girls out for food afterwards, or MORE! This is key here as you will be able to network with the directors and other workers for more work.
