Age of consent in Japan 2022+

Hello,

I am on process of making someone a SB, with recent adult age changes in laws I am confused and want to understand following questions.
1. Whats age of consent for sex in Japan (If its prefecture based, where can I find those details)?
2. Can 18+ below 20 now enjoy alcohol?
I googled but cannot find proper answer.

1. It's 18 in ALL prefectures.

2. No.

And if she's under 18, keep in mind that compensating a minor for sexual activities is a serious crime with serious (and well deserved) prison time,

I really wish american media would stop telling people the national age of consent leaving out the prefectual laws. Looking at you VICE...

Depends on the country, state, or local laws sadly and there's been cases where both were charged cause the law was vague and the DA had a hard-on for throwing kids in jail. That's why it's statutory even though people online in recent years act like it's some sort of easy to define line. Common sense (yeah, bad thing to bring up when it comes to laws) would say if you think the two "kids" are not old enough to consent to sex with each other at the age of 12 to 16, then they're also not responsible for their actions. When it comes to "kids" (again, 12 and older) doing things that are age restricted, it's fucking insane to charge them as adults.

I've always preferred the concept of "half your age plus seven years" as a standard until legal adulthood of the younger partner. Rounding up, of course.

A 16 year old and a 14 year old is a huge disparity in emotional and sexual maturity. A 20 year old and a 17 year old - not nearly as much.

This is reminding me of an old joke:

I believe there have been examples in the U.S. (in states where the AOC is 18) where there are high school couples who were dating and sexually active. where the boy is 17 and the girl is 16/15, and the girl's family is not pleased, and as soon as the boy turns 18 he's reported and arrested and prosecuted as an adult for statutory rape.

I was dating/humping a girl in high school when I was a 16yo junior and she was a 17yo senior. She graduated and then promptly turned 18 and used that as an excuse to break up with me and sit on some college dick because us having sexual relations would've supposedly been illegal. She didn't realize I was fully aware that the age of consent in our state was 16, but I played along and went with it. She had the largest, foulest, most rancid orifice I've ever encountered in my life and even as a randy 16yo thrilled by his first whack at a real vagina, I knew this particular vagina had something wrong with it.

I took a break from humping for my senior year and focused on honing my skills in the fine art of binge-drinking, which paid massive dividends a year later at a big state college where I could put away 20 beers at a keg party and still rise to the occasion with random girls in random dorm rooms and wake up with my underwear on backwards and tampons inserted up my ass. After all, it was 1999.

Since the age of the SB can’t be guaranteed by however you hooked up with this person, you should be careful.

Age to drink is 20 years old.
 
Technically even 18 year olds are not 100% safe. They also have to be graduated from high school. Otherwise it’s not statutory, but there’s some law about “parental responsibility” and the parents can basically demand you be charged.

Probably best to ask for ID if they’re young.

You don't need to worry about Age Of Consent unless you're a parent or a minor yourself. Well, when I was a minor I didn't care about looking for our prefecture's Age of Consent nor did my gf at the time.

Come on... It's obviously at 18 and over if you're over 18 yourself. Nobody over 18 anywhere can do it with someone who's under that age legally. It's called Child Protection Law even in Japan. There have been news articles where 19 years olds have been arrested for sleeping with their even 17-year-old girlfriend.

Some dumbasses really believe it's at 13 at a quick google search and thinks adults are allowed to smash JC's. (Yes I'm looking at you, uneducated American tik-tokers being all OMG WTF JAPAN ALLOWS THIS!?)

Alcohol and Tobacco consumption is the same as it has been. 20 years and over. So you should ask whoever you're SB'ing or dating is over 20.

He’s reading but not responding. I started to wonder whether or not he takes us seriously. Too many have come upon hard times for not taking TAG members seriously.

I was interested in knowing whether or not he was in jail yet. Buying liquor for underaged people is a crime after all. But I guess I’m wrong for such interest. Yeah, this should be locked.
 
Sorry for late reply. The party who was interested to be SB was only interested in having expensive dinners and gifts. I decided to pass. She already have 2 papa in Japan to take care.
 
So, Japanese citizens can now vote at 18, but they can’t legally drink until 20. That’s almost as bad as in the states.
