Anyone here or abroad non maskers?
I’m curious also if anyone was adamant about not wearing a mask have you changed your mind? If so at what point did you change?

If you are a non masker I’d like to understand at this point what’s your reasoning as your personal choice.

There’s quite a few guys missing or just vanished this year & I hope they weren’t impacted from Covid. This is just a question out of curiosity.

i was , not for pseudo-ideological reasons, just out of laziness...
Then I just noticed that countries for which wearing masks is not an issue do much better than countries for which it is
Is it useless 99% of the time even in public? Absolutely . Problem is you never know when the 1% occurrence will happen. Eg Trump

Touchy subject for some, lol.

I don't usually wear a mask unless I'm in a group of people or in a confined space where that risk increases. If I'm walking outside in an open air environment, I prefer not to wear one. Once people start getting close to me, I'll either exit the situation or use a mask for just-in-case purposes.

Definitely not wearing a mask when driving my car or using other personal transportation. I see lots of people driving in their cars alone, with masks on. I even saw someone driving their car alone, windows rolled up with mask AND a face shield. I avoid trains 100% - but I'd wear a mask if I was getting on a packed train.

The places that require a mask (department stores, gyms & other various places) - I'll wear one. I ran into a interesting rule recently... at a restaurant, you must wear a mask to enter and walk around. But, of course, you don't need a mask at your table. But, they didn't take into account social distancing as the next table with 2-4 people was certainly less than 3m. (logic? Absent?) Most everywhere I've been so far, temp checks are done 99% of the time but not all require a mask on entry.

There are few places that won't let you enter without a mask and then there are others that say only enter with mask, but no one checking. Other just have signs please use a mask or please note that our shop staff are wearing masks, etc.

No idea what happen to those who vanished. It was really strange that quite a few regulars here on TAG, just simply dropped off the face of the virtual earth once the virus really got going.
I've been MORE involved in various online sites since the virus has kept me working at home.

I am pretty certain around 99% of the things that are done to prevent covid19 infections are useless. Like disinfecting barber chairs after each customer. But again it's the old "we did everything we could so it's not our fault" thinking.

I wear a mask when I am near people. I think it is helpful; not with covid but for keeping me looking normal for other people. It's like wearing clothes that don't let your genitals to show when walking; it's called etiquette, check it out boys and girls.

Then again I do not get the people who are energetic enough to get angry about having to wear a mask. It's not like you cannot breath with one and at least in my case the more face it covers the better I look. And yeah, I sometimes wear the mask when I am alone in my car. I am probably going somewhere that's just five minutes away and if I don't then I forget to put it on and have to go back to my car to get it.

I’d hazard a guess that some of them are stuck at home with a spouse that can see their screen.

I was a non-mask guy up until the time that the scientists (outside Japan) started telling us to wear masks. Now I am a mask guy outside my house, but my masks spend a lot of time under my chin if there is no one within 10 metres. I walk and cycle mostly. My taxi budget has been slashed. I am focused on avoiding crowds and generally keeping a good social distance - reading the street, taking note of wind direction and assuming my optimal posi.

I find masks uncomfortable, but I think the Uniqlo masks could be a handy accessory in the peak of winter. Toasty warm.

I have a mask on whenever I leave the house but I smoke so it's usually under my chin. I'm not so worried about catching it as I'm type 0 Neg blood and I smoke (not a lot though) Trains/crowded places I'll wear it just to comply and not raise a ruckus with the locals.

I wear masks quite often. Of course, here in Japan it is not really a political issue. BTW, I think spit guards are silly.

As for temperature checks, those seem to be more for show than anything else.

I’m bit of a germaphobe and happy to oblige — to wear a mask. I will lower it in less crowded areas to sip some water if I’m really thirsty. I feel relieved that universal masking has become more acceptable in countries where people would have thought you’re a terminally ill patient if they saw you wearing a mask.
I’m from a country where physical contact with friends or even acquaintances is very common, I’m cool with a hug and kiss on the cheeks but some of my friends or extended family would trap me in a death grip and we would slowly swing hugging each other for about a minute upon meeting. Or they kiss me so much that their lipstick becomes my blush. It’s not culturally acceptable to stay away from the affection. That’s pretty intense and in summer it can be suffocating lol, I’m low key glad that this will probably not happen for a while.

Oh come on don’t you love it when Uncle Simonkov , 150kg, heavy smoker and garlic lover try to hug and kiss you? It’s adorable! :)

I was totally a non-masker until March, cos I was following the WHO advice (masks do more harm than good) rather than local advice.
Then the advice started to change and I followed that.
Im not a smart person at all but not not so stupid that I cant change my mind based on evidence and reason.

I guess I've gone sort of the opposite direction on masks (and all the anti-COVID measures in general). When the pandemic hit, I was wearing KN95 masks and was basically a doomsday pepper staying at home as much as possible and away from other people. And I went on a P4P hiatus for while.

Staying cooped up at home like that with the wife was okay for the first couple months but then the cracks started to form. Perversion and horniness started to creep back in and dull my sense of fear.

Now, four massage parlor visits, a crowded 300+ person super illegal stripper party, a bikini pub crawl, four visits with indy escorts and a visit with a retired pornstar later I'm still alive and unharmed. Or so I think...

I guess that's what they mean by "quarantine fatigue". I should probably go back to being a normal person and just stay the fuck at home.

I follow a different forum full of angry Americans bitching and whining that their government is a dictatorship for requiring to wear masks and it deprives them of their sacro-sanct freedom and they’re useless anyway bla bla bla

they go bonkers when I reply I’m glad to live in a country where people wear it simply out of caution for themselves and respect for others, where life goes on without lockdowns, and we have much less infections and deaths than in the supposedly Leaders Of The Free World’s country...

They hate me so much I nearly get a boner out of it :)

When I was working at a Japanese company initially I didn’t even understand why people were wearing masks. I was a workaholic like them & would come in even with a cold.
It was at that point being bitched out in Japanese by a few of my coworkers about being irresponsible & not thinking of everyone that I started to wear masks while sick.
I’m glad I got used to masks while I was younger or maybe I might not seen the point initially of wearing masks.

I used to take great pleasure in ridiculing people who thought that a virus was so small that it would go straight through a mask, many seriously thought that viruses float around as individual particles.

To be honest I never wore masks when I had colds because I stay home, don't sneeze over people and wash my hands properly. Now I wear a mask as soon as I leave the house, except my glasses fog up and I do "dick nose" when I'm not immediately around others.

I can't wrap my head around 2020 basically giving us a free pass to cosplay as a ninja in public and people saying "Nah, I'm good." America you so dumb. Ninjas are awesome.

I basically wear one whenever I'm outside of my home or car. If you're gonna have to wear one, you might as well have some fun with it and get something that looks good.

the more face it covers the better I look
I forgot how dreamy your eyes are!!.

I get my staff to wear masks when dealing with the public, and i keep a stash in my car for the supermarket and konbini.
Also when in Tokyo, on trains etc.
Been taking a lot of taxis too.

Some places seem to be using covid as a means to cut costs. When I returned a rental car recently they asked me to take my trash, as it was a covid risk (Eki rent-a-car in Morioka), so I take my rubbish into JR and dispose of it there. Poor JR bugger who cleans the bins is gonna be in dire straits.
Also a lot of golf courses have drained the ofuro and it is shower only. And speaking of golf courses, many have those perspex barriers in the restaurants. FFS I've just played 9 holes maskless with the same people, and now I'm gonna catch covid over lunch.

That’s me today. In my defense my drive was literally a 3 min drive to grab food, and I’m too lazy to take it off in the car only to put it back on when I get out and grab the take out, and then take it off again once I’m back in the car for another 3 mins drive, and then back on again as I go back to my workspace.

I’ve been wearing masks 9 hrs a day for the past 7-8 months because of my job and it just feels normal already. On the plus side, if I get a pimple, I don’t mind anymore because nobody is gonna see it!

Right. This exactly. Now if there were only some way to wear a shredder helmet and nobody look at me weird we’d be good here. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Has this pandemic made any of you even more neurotic than ever? I was already an extremist OCD germophobe. This year has brought out the worst in me.

If I see people not wearing masks in public, I want to shoot them. Even if they are wearing masks, if they come within 3 meters of me I want to shoot them. When I see idiot fucking rednecks (often at GOP/Trump rallies) declaring that masks are an unconstitutional violation of their rights and indicative of a totalitarian dictatorship, I hope they get infected and infect their friends, too. And if those assholes try taking advantage of the cheap $300RT tickets and show up in my city without masks, I want to shoot them. Multiple times.

This has also brought out the hoarder in me. Those Clorox Wipes that are seemingly impossible to find nowadays? I devised a technique to order them through my office and I have, literally, over a hundred of the 75-packs squirreled away in my condo and work storage sites, and always have multiple packs in my personal and work vehicles. I have a wipe in my hand whenever I'm forced to go out shopping. I also have several dozen canisters of hospital-grade anti-viral wipes that I keep at my desk and in my kitchen. I have thousands of pairs of nitrile gloves that I use whenever I handle potentially infected items. I have gallons and gallons of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 60% ethyl alcohol hand sanitizer. I make sure my family is well-stocked with these supplies and then the rest is all mine for safe keeping.

And masks? You name the type and I've got it. In the rare event I venture out into public (meaning in my truck, driving to work or home), my usual mask is an Under Armour or Mission sports mask. But for those times I have to go near people, I have a stockpile of hundreds of KN95 masks and cases of N95 masks that I've been able to acquire through work under the pretense that they're "for my staff." That shit gets delivered to my office and goes straight into my truck and then home with me. I keep the cartons of masks on an industrial shelf next to my cases of 5.56/7.62 rifle ammunition and 30-rnd Magpul magazines.

I do hope that once we get an effective vaccine and the virus begins to fade away, so, too, will this neurosis. But I wouldn't bet on it. And if the apocalypse indeed arrives and I have to go out guns blazing, I'll never run out of mags or ammo and I'll be the cleanest, most efficiently masked and most disinfected vigilante warrior of all time.

Yeah, I know that people outside of Japan wouldn't visit much. But a few regulars that do live here and regularly post, vanished.

Yeah, came down with some mystery illness around March which knocked me out for a few weeks (it kind of fitted the profile but at the time nowhere enough to come close to a test), and even pre-Covid my work keeps me at home in front of the computer way too much (no, not webcam), and a bunch of other stuff, and kind of drifted away from a lot of online forums and the like for a while. And no interest in doing anything involving close quarters in dubiously ventilated surroundings with strangers.

On topic, I hardly ever used to wear a mask (not used to it, seemed a bit dorky), but the science makes sense (largely ineffective at protection but an excellent tool in slowing down the spread if everyone wears one), so no problem. I also see no problem in using it as a chin warmer when walking/cycling outside, unless the area is crowded.
