Anyone have recommendations for barcades to check out in Tokyo? I'm interested in places that will have actual arcade games and not just pachinko machines that have their volume set to 1000%.

I've only been to one *barcade* (given that my nightlife is all about sleep nowadays) ... Hooters in Shibuya has a small arcade section with machines in various states of disrepair ... it has a foosball, an air hockey machine.

Have you tried Round-1? It's a sports complex that has an arcade section and serves drinks, but it's less like a barcade and more like a massive bowling alley with batting cages and roller skating.

There is a video-game themed bar in Shinjuku named 8-bit cafe that has some retro games that you can play while you drink.

And if all else fails, you can always pick up some drinks at the convenience and head to any game center for drunk photo booths and Mario kart! In fact, that'd be my go-to recommendation so long as you go with friends and don't harass the other customers. Good luck, and drink responsibly!

Scorpioni6ths, I am honestly surprised that Hooters any sort of games. I always assumed that all they had was beer, boobs, sports, and wings. I might check one out thanks.

CTOFA, I've never been to either of those places but I will definitely be going to them when I get back to Tokyo. Thanks for that and also the Google map links.
