Daily WHO Reports for the Coronavirus Outbreak (Link)

Have all the reported cases thus far been Asian men?

I saw a blog post from a noted software guy (who isn't a doctor, I should add) that he thinks it was some kind of accidentally released bioweapon that targets Han Chinese exclusively. On one hand, I don't see any reason why he'd have any expertise on the matter, but if it were somehow true, I doubt either Chinese or international media would report anything to that effect either.
No one in his right mind would ever use a RNA virus as bioweapon...it's just too out of control.

And no, there are non-Asians infected already, both male and female, in India,Nepal, Spain, Italy, the states, UK, Germany, and Diamond Princess.

WHO maintains the stance "transmission from asymptomatic cases is likely not a major driver of transmission. Persons who are symptomatic will spread the virus more readily through coughing and sneezing."
https://www.who.int/docs/default-source/coronaviruse/situation-reports/20200201-sitrep-12-ncov.pdf

There is not yet a clear confirmed case of asymptomatic spread.

No rationale to discriminate healthy individuals, Chinese or not.

The link is talking about a paper in NEJM.

That paper did have faulty information about the first case in Germany being a asymptomatic spreader.

But there are other confirmed cases of asymptomatic spread

Such as the first familial cluster case in Anyang, Henan Province, China, found on Jan. 27th.

Also, the 8th case in Taiwan, found on Jan. 26th, who was infected by the 5th case in Taiwan, was highly likely to be asymptomatic spread.

Read the whole study - pretty much any coronavirus can survive on metal for up to nine days.

Spoilsport! Why you are trying to reduce the panic; I have boxes and boxes of masks that I need to sell off!

But in reality I am also taking precautions. Nowadays I am wearing a condom all the time. Except of course when peeing or having sex, everyone understands those times it's not possible to wear one.

That person was ethnically Chinese.
The ethnical Chinese is a different case, who died at 11PM of Feb 7th, in Wuhan Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College.

The case I mentioned deceased one day earlier in Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital.

Other places, and I mean most of them, are not diligent or quick at all...

Some stupid things they did:

Taiwan failed to contain their evacuated citizen from the epicenter; failed again to contain passengers who was previously on cruise ship World Dreams.

Hong Kong has been a total failure...thousands of their medical professionals were on strike and refused to work.

Singapore failed to shut down some major religious gatherings, and let more than 3000 clueless elderly citizens mingle. Their government now talks about giving up tracing and isolating suspect cases, and instead starting to treat the disease like swine flu.

Indonesia refused to run tests on their evacuated expats from China, because, in their own words, it was too expensive.

The Britons had an epic failure. Their coach drivers stay in confined space for hours with the evacuated, without wearing anything protective (while the CDC officer next to him was fully geared), and this happened after the poor coach driver in Nara was infected.

Never said that they were perfect, just that they do get on top of things when it matters....except for Hong Kong I suppose, but I feel that's an entirely different issue.

As someone who lives in Toronto, I was a little peeved when they practically let the plane full of people just go home when a man on the flight showed signs of being infected. Give credit when credit is due, they were quick to react when the family reported the man fell ill when he got home, but I feel they could've easily quarantined the group of passengers for a few days just to be safe.

Look at the bright side. Your better half is probably already planning an alternative program for those 4 weeks. Lot's of art exhibitions, museums and other stuff like that to broaden your horizon. After 4 weeks like that you will probably know a lot more about Chinese pottery than you could ever imagine;)

Oh, it gets worse than that. Now that my BKK trip is canceled, it appears I'll instead be spending that time irritated as fuck, stuck in Japan's asshole (Osaka) courting the coronavirus and angrily drinking sidewalk beers on the Dotonbori while surrounded by screaming Chinese tourists, before transitioning to being bored as fuck, stranded in Hakone, probably sitting on the riverbank angrily drinking riverbank beers before going back to my overpriced ryokan and courting the coronavirus surrounded by screaming Chinese tourists. At the very least, the ryokan has this amazing rooftop "infinite" rotenburo overlooking the entire valley, so the peons at all the lower-priced hotels below can watch me standing at the edge, singing racist country songs and drunkenly playing with myself.

Of course. Everyone knows you're only supposed to wear condoms when having sex with bats and snakes before cooking and eating them. :D

Sounds like Paradise to me :D

Edit: lol! Oh come on @TAG Manager , we can’t even type that other word for Heaven now?!

second edit: so lets say I met a h00ker in Parad1se it becomes ...

I met a in paradise :ROFLMAO:

The bright side - not many Chinese tourists at the moment.

That's what people keep telling me but I'm rarely that lucky. I was hoping that with the sudden drop in tourism numbers because of the China travel bans the hotels would also drop their prices to be more attractive--quite the opposite, all of the ryokan are now even more expensive. I'm just waiting for the fire sale prices next fall after this pandemic turns the Olympics into a huge failure and Tokyo is reeling for a comeback. Of course if prices drop across the board, half of China will suddenly show up to take advantage of the specials. Just can't win in Asia.

Yes. No rationale. But there is such a thing as skepticism. Skepticism in this case is based on the undeniable fact that doctors and scientists often turn out to be wrong. Beating this virus is as much about understanding the science as it is about understanding human behavior. An asymptomatic person from Wuhan whose test is negative is going to be viewed with some degree of skepticism by some people, including me! And the Buta is a Pig Of Science! Doctors are sometimes wrong! Tests are sometimes faulty! If you think I am a superstitious, racist, fear mongering Luddite, then you don’t understand human behavior and you will lose the battle while you complain that people aren’t rational. Of course we are not rational! And I love all humans and pigs too.

Stop your belly aching! Hotels in Asia and in Tokyo too are comparatively cheap compared to Europe and North America.

A 60 years old American died in Wuhan on Feb 6th.
Was he a White American of Proper Northern European stock, or was he an ersatz American? I mean he might have been one of those really smart Chinese or Indian guys who helped us figure out how to make our radio controlled toys work better so we gave him a passport. Why not? In which case the bio weapon virus would not be able to tell the difference. I mean unless it had like a RFID receiver and could read the chip in the guys passport.

I don't know if she's a caucasian.

What I know is that the initial claim of her being an ethnic Chinese made by the Washington Post's chief of branch in China was later proved not correct.

Found this story interesting and interested to know if it sheds some light on more information. Some people can speculate, but it's interesting to look at the data.
A more plausible explanation is that they’re cleaning out the animals from the wet markets in the city that are suspected to be the origin of the infection and burning the carcasses.

Please do not try to insert any sense or logic to this discussion. The truth is the virus is a biological weapon that is designed to spread HIV through farts. Millions have already died and it is just starting. Every youtube video and twitter message I have gone through points to that direction.

There are 2 versions of official explanations:

Version 1: Feb. 9th was the day they started doing massive city-wide sterilizations, and the satellite was somehow too stupid to distinguish sulfur dioxide and hypochlorite.

https://m.chinanews.com/wap/detail/zw/gn/2020/02-10/9085312.shtml

Version 2: Feb. 9th was the day WISCO restarted production. WISCO is the 10th largest steelmaker in the world, and one of the biggest source of SO2 pollution in China.

One thing in your link is correct: funeral incinerators in Wuhan are very busy.

But they have been busy for nearly a month already; there's no point doing all the cremations at once on Feb 9th.

A more plausible explanation is that they’re cleaning out the animals from the wet markets in the city that are suspected to be the origin of the infection and burning the carcasses.

It's already done by as early as Jan. 2nd.

And here's even more evidence of the incompetence of government and why China's latest gift to the world will be at your doorstep sooner or later.

The news is reporting that a Hawaii resident (notice, they didn't say "American citizen") was dicking around in Hubei and evidently managed to sneak back into the U.S. yesterday by making his/her way to another non-restricted Asian country and then booking a direct flight to HNL. News won't say which country he/she flew in from--South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore? What federal law enforcement officials in other news outlets are reporting is that nobody even realized this individual had been in Hubei until he/she was interrogated by Customs officials, as is normal (and probably because they noticed the travel stamps on the passport) and only then at the customs desk did this asshole admit to being in Hubei recently and was subsequently quarantined.

That means at last two airports in at least two countries outside China, staffers at both, an entire airplane full of passengers and crew and then customs officials in HNL were exposed to this individual and most of them don't even know it and are happily back home in a neighborhood near you. And even if this jackass isn't infected, anyone working in federal customs/immigration enforcement can tell you: for every one you catch, there are fifty you don't. Those of you in western states in particular should keep an eye on Hawaii, as that's basically Asia's gateway to the mainland U.S. and where the majority of disease carriers will come in from since a lot of flights departing Asia and bound for mainland airports have layovers at HNL. Outbreak in Waikiki means buckle up, Los Angeles.

Of course, this doesn't mean anyone should panic. All this means is:

1) The federal government is full of shit.

2) State governments are full of shit.

3) The coronavirus is probably incubating somewhere near you right now.

4) Throw away those fucking masks as they don't do shit, anyway. Wash your hands often, stop touching your face and avoid close contact with anyone screaming a certain language or peddling dim sum, rat sandwiches or cat tacos and you'll be fine.

5) If you're going to stockpile something, it should be porn, lube and alcohol, because P4P with girls who regularly rotate all across the anals of Asia is probably not the brightest idea right now. Stay home and masturbate and save your money and when this finally blows over next fall you'll have lots of money to blow at soaplands now desperate for customers after the Olympics is an epic failure and the mamasans are starving for business.

And that one actually makes sense.

Guo Wengui's got a long history of making fantastic claims that nobody can verify, he'll say anything to stick it to the communist party.

I wouldn't treat anything he says as a credible source without some serious supporting evidence.

No body knows the exact number of death tolls in Wuhan.

They just don't have enough kits and lab facilities to confirm every suspects.

Many people died before they could get confirmed, such as the first case of Japanese deceased in Wuhan on Feb. 6th.

But the total number is unlikely to be ridiculously higher than the official figure...because, like they previouly did in Xinjiang and Tibet, if CCP want to cover up something, they need to shut down internet connections in the affected area completely.

But right now there are more than 5 million living in Wuhan with their internet access intact. They are producing tons of homemade video clips on Tiktok. No one could burn 50,000 corpses without irritating these 5 million, especially when they are neighbors and relatives of the deceased.

And seriously why do we care about it anyway? as long as the Chinese government properly lock it down (which is one of very few things they are really good at), we're fine.

For me the real concern is the lack of kits and lab facilities. It's not only a problem in Wuhan, but also elsewhere in China and the world, including Japan.
