You ask the sys admins to do it for you if it is important enough to bother them about it.

Hit 'Report' on the post/thread and let us know why you want to edit/delete it. We don't technically 'delete' threads or posts, just remove them from public view. We generally lean towards not deleting threads if we can't help it especially if there's responses, so you better have a good reason for it. Thanks.

I guess the most common reason for requests to delete poster's own threads would be that they posted some nonsense or lies and got caught out. There is an argument for keeping the threads in question in the public domain.
