Even After X amount of years in Japan I'll never get used to____

I dunno, the idea of something demanding more attention due to its short and stumpy appendage brings something else to mind..

Similarly the ones with a long one are just so happy to look and chase it they don't need anyone else to be there.

So, which ones you prefer?
It looks like your house is full of pussy, by the way, you lucky man!

I love all them pussies the same way. In this case the same way means I feed them, clean after them and bury the dead bodies of their prey they leave under my table. Occasionally as a gift they sit on my lap and purr.

So it's basically same as having a girlfriend.

(I'm really not great at laundry).

I do the cooking when I'm not working late. :)
This is a contradiction. Laundry (not dry cleaning) is rather machine wash or hand wash, that's it. All those buttons and settings on the washer? Total bullshit. Might make some housewives feel more accomplished but the fact is they dont make a damn bit of difference in terms of "release X liters of water, agitate, drain, release X liters of water, drain, spin". How do I know this? I used to drink with a guy who designed the electronics.

Cooking is far more complex, a skill one builds up over time which can be elevated to an art (if one believes such).

There are famous cooks but in fact there are no famous laundry do-ers.

Sudsy over there living in 3019 while the rest of us plebs are stuck in the 21st century.

An extension of gas line is not difficult, but a gas dryer needs a dryer vent, which practically prevents gas dryers to be installed in "mansions".

When you need to dry clothes indoor quicker, you can use fans. Just blow air mildly to the clothes on a drying rack. That makes quite a difference.

Eh, they both take time. Works for us.

Except there is already a hole in the wall for the air conditioning pipes, adding one more is no big deal.

In my experience the difference in a well ventilated room (so humidity does not get trapped and prevent drying) is that a fan reduces from 8+ hrs to 7+.

Guys you really push the boundaries of unspeakable perversion. One more post about gas piping issues and I report this thread to the management...
Gas is apparently readily available in Japanese pornos but you can't dry your clothes with it.

This is more amusing than puzzling or annoying ...

Those TAG gentleman who have met me in person can confirm that I am relatively tall.

We all know how crowded conditions on subways and JR trains force riders to stand in front of the doors.

On numerous occasions, the doors opened and some waiting oba-san/obatarian found themselves at eye level with my chest or abdomen. They would immediately blurt out: びっくりした! That would often be accompanied by varying degrees of hyperventilation.

Most of time, I succeeded in not bursting into laughter.

I confirm.

And would have reacted the same :)

The bureaucracy sometimes makes me wonder. Not that the people working in city or prefectural offices wouldn't be helpful or anything but just that the whole system is somewhat retarded or at least couple of centuries late from the other world.

Like renewing your driver's license. You need to do it every five years, and if you forget like I of course never do, yeah, it's three years and even more hassle.

But even in the best case considering you are driving in Tokyo you will always get the two hour lecture meaning the visit will take around three hours in total. So everyone needs to take at least a half day of from any productive work.

Not that it would affect me, I never do anything productive, but still. And what do we benefit from that. An eye test that takes ten seconds, and would be done way better at your yearly health check, and a new picture. Priceless.

Yeah had it renewed recently and see what you mean. The whole driving licenses system (and penalties + « rehab training » if you break the rules ) looks a bit like a scheme to keep old policemen busy and paying them out of drivers’ pocket

If you deliberately let it lapse, how easy ( or difficult) is it to renew some years later?

Don’t you have to take a drivers test again if it expires for years?

I thought they had a grace period if you renew it within that period before you have to effectively start over.
However, if I have this right...

A) Can renew an expired license if it's been 6 months or less.
B) If you let it expire more than 2 months, you'll need documents to explain why.
C) 6 Months and after, you'll need to take the practical test again.
D) More than 1 year expired, you're screwed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, lol.

You don’t say....

Pretty much like that, though immediately when you are one day late you will have to do a lot of paperwork, you get a "new" license so it's valid for three years only. More than a year late and you don't have a license anymore, so start all over.

Of course foreigners would always have the option of just changing their foreign license to Japanese again. And pretty much all Europeans would just need the paperwork then.

Can you actually do a second license conversion? My understanding is that it wasn’t allowed, but since I’ve never had my license revoked, I’ve never had occasion to find out firsthand. I was told a long time ago that it wasn’t allowed because it would allow somebody who had their license revokedCan you actually do a second license conversion? I was under the impression, though, that it was no longer allowed under the same rule changes that stopped foreign residents from driving in definitely on an international drivers permit. They basically want license revocation and suspensions to stick.
