Being a guy who grew up in Japan during the 90s/2000s, a lot of my youth was spent looking at Japanese bikini idols as I produced and wasted a lot of white protein.

If you have any favorites, please share and with pictures if possible!
Remember, idols only, no AV stars.

My absolute two favorites are:

Nemoto Harumi
Busty idol from Chiba who came out of the "big bust" idol boom during this period with Koike Eiko, Megumi, etc. Couldn't sing or act worth shit, but her body was glamour-class. She had problems with weight gain and eventually lost all popularity. Is now married and living in Hawaii.

Matsugane Yoko
Another busty idol who had a lot more drama in her career. She was popular in her early years when she was full-figured as you see below. Breasts the size of melons and a firm tight body. Couldn't get into acting or singing so she lost a lot of weight (breasts still big) and had a second debut, this time with more risque DVD content that verged on soft-core porn. I was really hoping she'd make the jump to AV, but then she got caught in the "1 yen auction scandal" that got a lot of idols banned from the media. (The same reason you don't see Hoshino Aki around any more). Now she's just living a normal life and still no AV debut. Damn shame.

Basically, there used to be an auction site that let you sell things from 1 yen.
They were desperate for publicity so they bribed a lot of idols to promote their site on social media by
saying that they, for example, were able to buy a brand-bag for a super cheap price.

Well, it turns out they were lying because they had never won those items at the auction.
The site gave it to them for free and they used them to post pictures online.

Matsugane Yoko was the head idol in this scam and had a lot of idol friends with her, like Hoshino Aki who was super popular.

After this leaked to the media, most of these idols were never heard from again.
They were fired, forced to retire, had their sites shut down, etc.

Only one or two have tried to make a comeback into the media after apologizing, but they were met with a very cold reception.

Speaking of scandals that forced idols to retire, there was also Hitomi Aizawa.
Another busty idol in the 2000s that had the largest and sexiest ass I have ever seen on a Japanese girl.

Ah, Nori-pi. She debuted in the 1980s so maybe not a 1990s idol, but she was still popular back then as a singer turned occasional TV show guest. And yes, her husband got her into doing drugs which caused that huge missing person scandal a while back.

If you were around back then and got excited whenever Hosokawa Fumie made an appearance because you thought her breasts were big, then, like me, you've definitely been here too long.

(Fumie's boobs were big, but not really by today's standards. It's just, back then there weren't many big boobs in the mainstream media so her's seemed like a golden treasure that was finally revealed and it got a lot of men excited, such as Beat Takeshi)

Naw I only figured out what was going on in Japan in the mid 90s or so. Late to the party.

Wish I could have watched Gilgamesh on TV. Hard to believe you used to see boobs on basic channels back in the day.

Oh, man! That show got me through early puberty in middle school. Yes, in the 90s it was still common to see bare breasts on TV, even during golden time shows.

Ken Shimura's comedy shows would often have naked ladies in onsen scenes, and game shows would have a question about guess which woman is a stripper and the correct lady would actually go topless. And this was aired before 9PM, mind you.

Shows like Gilgamesh and Tonight 2 were aired in the after 11PM slots (Gilgamesh was a 1AM) and they often had porn stars and strippers on to show boobs and jiggle around playing games and such. They would also due segments on adult themes like adult toys and what goes on at porn studios.

My favorite JAV star Sawaguchi Miki was on Gilgamesh for a while before she went back into porn.

Miss the good old days. Now they have similar shows but no bare breasts. At best you get a bikini episode with a lot of dirty talk.

The PTA and parents complaining about a lot of things on TV. That's why Crayon Shinchan has become so lame the past 10 years.
No more dirty jokes, naked dancing, or boob shots.

Basically, Japan has just adopted stricter regulations that are more in line with the standards in the West and other Asian countries.

Well, at least it wasn't a poster of Agnes Chan or Agnes Lum. (Or did you have those too?)

Crayon Shinchan might still be a wild show, but there were episodes back in the 90s where the father had his dick measured at 5 cm and the kindergarten teacher was using her boobs to try and hit on a hot guy. You don't see those kind of things anymore.

Huh, we had Shinchan on tv where i lived when i was growning up.
They didn't quite keep to Japan.

All parents definitely hated it because a lot of boys followed his bare ass boogie example.

never was interested in idols (and I really dislike this word) but first time I came to Japan I enjoyed watching commercials and I liked Ueto Aya's particular face.

Gilgamesh Night! Wow, I almost forgot about that show. Think I still have a couple episodes that I transferred to DVD a long time ago. Gonna have to go look for those now. :)
