I just arrived to Japan a few days ago and staying till next week, and here are my first impressions about Japan

But first, let me tell a little about myself, I'm an 18 year old student hoping to study in Japan next year, I'm full chinese blooded but lives in Singapore and Indonesia, wears Zara shirts and coat everywhere with a simple watch and classic loubs. I speak Japanese that's enough for daily lives, but not that good.

- Everyone is very nice and friendly, It makes me feel more at home than at my home, whenever I use taxis or eat at a restaurant it makes me feel at ease especially since most of them treats me with a smile.

- Groceries cost cheap but restaurant foods are a bit expensive but It's still reasonable because of the amazing taste.

- People here blushes alot, like for example, at the hotel when I speak to the female staffs they usually blush when they couldn't hear what I'm saying

- Girls here are very cute and more common. Okay this might sound a bit weird but, I found cute girls here very common compared to my country. Where I usually live I usually see 0-5 cute girls each time I went to the mall, but here, I counted all the cute girls I saw yesterday (might be freaky) in around 3 malls and the total was above 50. I was like damn, Japan is Heaven.

- Some desserts are amazing, some just doesn't match my taste.

- Taxis cost a fortune, I have never been in a country where taxis are these expensive, I mean around $30/ride.

- There are almost no extremely crowded places which is awesome

So far, Japan is Heaven for Me.

Here are my first impressions and experience, what do you guys think and how was yours if you're not a Japanese

Yes, Japan has lots of cute girls. That's one of the reasons why I moved here:D

I concur. I was in awe with the sheer number of attractive women walking around. I don't know how easy or difficult the dating scene is over there, particularly for foreigners, but if you can get in, it's seems like to would be heaven. I also ran into and checked out a porn store in Akihabara and couldn't believe they had about 8 floors worth of porn videos and material. Even if you can't score, seems like you're still good in Tokyo, :ROFLMAO:

My first impression was how friendly and helpful the people here are. I was very happy with how much attention and compliments i got. For some women it might be annoying and if its untasteful compliments i also don't like it but generally i'm happy with the positive attention i receive and how you can be yourself in Tokyo and play around without anyone bothering you.

I try never to use a taxi in Japan. The first and only time I ever had to use one was when I was with a group the first time I was in Japan. We got the map upside down and wound up in the opposite side of town instead of the place we were heading. Granted, we made it back in time with the help of a cab, but it was certainly an experience I hope never to have to repeat.

I know right, the sheer number of attractiveness is amazing. The attitudes of people here are also very friendly which makes me wanna move sooner, plus, everything is way cheaper from my actual country.

Aaaahhhh, M Life in Akihabara...8 floors of carnal kinky bliss.

I have to remember to visit there sometimes. (y)

I had alot of appointment and things to arrange during my limited stay in Japan in which is why I decided to use Taxi. :D

Couple points to add

Uber is also crazy expensive.. I have read taxis are cheaper than Uber in Tokyo..

Walking around Tokyo, when I see girls i think "jk style, ol style or hitoduma style.." I can see myself Turning into a full stalker there

I prefer my own transportation when possible.
For Taxis, most of the time I can use that as a business expense and I'd say I use Taxis at least 2-3 times a week. (think grey zone)
For all other times, stick with trains.... or even walk when possible. :p

And for average Taxi cost -- easily 730yen to 5,000 yen. -- Most common 730yen taxi is from the Park Hyatt to Shinjuku station.
It costs about 7,000 yen to take me directly home from Shinjuku station... that's not totally nuts given the convenience of it.

hehe, me too i will do that as soon as i can ;)

I use taxis frequently, multiple times per day on average, and the large majority of the time when with a date. I particularly enjoy zooming around Tokyo streets late at night looking out at the city and its lights streaming past with a warm companion cuddled close. In some older parts of town on a rainy and misty night it can have a cool Blade Runner atmosphere. Although I consider it sort of uncouth and disrespectful of the driver, I have managed some low profile sexual activity in taxis with my companion of the evening on a few drunken occasions...quite memorable.

But yeah, not really economical transportation.

1- I've been in many countries and I can attest that Japan has the best service even without the tipping culture !

2- it does cost more for a living in Japan than in China but the salaries are higher too

3- yeah Japanese people are shyer than others I know, I don't like that part though

4- I'm sure it's because of the make up and because they have more money to take care of themselves than other asian girls :p

5- I don't know about China but I preferred the desserts in France. I miss the "crème brulée" T_T

6- Taxis are expensive in most rich countries but I don't see the need to take one in Japan unless you miss the last train. You can go anywhere by train and it's clean and safe.

7- surprised to read that, Japan is the most crowded country I've been in

As far as I'm concerned, my first impression of Japan was : peaceful, clean and safe place.

The "crème brulée" is catalan origin, from Spain... :p

1) I find service in Japan great but inflexible. For example I've stayed at 5* hotels .. But trying to ask about checking in early is met with blank stares, like they don't even understand vs. the attentiveness of "standard" service type things is amazing.

6) Taxis are indeed expensive everywhere.. Western Europe is particularly bad. Especially if you're ever in small towns. You might have to pay for the driver to drive to you in addition to the cost of your trip itself!

In Japan, they have "crème brulée" crepes... I see this as what Charlie Sheen calls, "WINNING!"
Had my first Japanese crepe on my recent trip. Those crepes never interested me before, but afterI reading about the crème brulée ones I just had to try it out. So good!

Yeah that's most definitely how I observe it as well. I also find that clothes they wear are just on another level as well. Not necessarily more expensive or anything like that but it's clear they put more effort into their looks. The majority of girls here in Toronto, or just people in general, look like slobs in comparison.

1) I guess it's not as customization in hotels as services in other countries where the tipping custom and the human connection plays a role but in everyday's life I've never seen such a quality service.

6) taxi are very cheap in poor and developing countries, in Thailand, Indonesia or in north Africa it's really cheap (unless you get scammed which is possible for foreigners).

yeah but you can't buy great stuff from the super market to eat at home. even the yogurts are poor quality in Japan.

doesn't bother me, I'm not french. in both case I wish they had it in Japanese supermarkets :(
Yes of course my friend i guessed you not french, you know even in France, there is not really "crème brulée" offers in supermarkets ;)
Because this dessert need to be prepared at the time, Its very easy to do, 30mn is enough, its like a simple vanilla entremet...
the specificity is the way you do the "brulée", you should not to use a oven, its not good, but with a warm iron, a little bit like did john Wayne to mark the cows.
