Is anyone here a headhunter? I have a friend who is half Japanese looking for a IT related job in japan. He will be here at the end of the month. Not sure if this is the correct category.

    Hiya!

The job market is tight everywhere right now. We had some interns here hoping to land some jobs before having to go back to their home country, but none of them could even get an interview during their time here.

I personally don't have any connections to refer your friend to.

    I'm sorry. :(

Hey Chodi (the other chris), does your friend speak any Japanese at all?

There are a few jobs floating around but it depends on his visa status and language ability. A friend of mine who does some executive head hunting said that one of the biggest problems right now is the over abundance of people out of work. English teachers, IT, business and various other professional jobs all have a overrun of people looking for work.

There are exceptions in some cases to the JPLT1 and visa requirements but not many. Still, are new Japan graduates out hunting for work as well. They are probably part of the 20% of new graduates who didn't have a job offer right out of school.

I guess you know about the usual job hunting sites?

Thanks he doesn't speak Japanese but can read it. I called a friend of mine from Allied Teleisis and they found him a position. I know jobs are scarce here as well as back in the states.

Well, that's great news. I really don't know what to tell people who are searching without some type of networking system. People that usually get the jobs are those with connections or friends with connections.

I've heard that that Chinese will be the next English equivalent as China's economy is expected to gain more momentum and power. My company has already sent some people to China.

Sorry we couldn't help initially for your friend. Glad you got something worked out.

If it's any help for in the future. I am located in the States and I am a recruiter. I recruit in different niche markets. Currently I have several software engineer positions, Manager Electro-Acoustic Test, Pres/Vice Pres Product Management, etc. This is not an advertisement nor a solicitation, but a small glimpse at how I can help. All markets. If this is a foul, tell me and I won't post anything like this again...

Here's a question. What about any slim to none chance of getting work in an Adult Club or Adult Industry? I have been involved in the Adult Entertainment industry for many years. From Management, Promotions, Security, Actor...I have been an Agent for Porn Stars and Centerfolds in the past, etc...Any feedback?

Only rumors and ramblings from random people, BUT... I have heard and have seen ads for random things here in Japan that fall into that category. The whole downside is that it's not sponored work, which wouldn't get you the necessary visa to legally work here.

To be honest though, I've run into more producers from California wanting to bring girls back to the states to film them there. They'll put up offers of 10k-20k just get her there for a screen test and then decide what to from there.

Japan has some freaky stuff, so I can't say it's completely impossible. I think it's a matter of being at the right place at the right time. Every now and then a Japanese guy will pop up on some english message boards offering some people a chance to work in the Japan adult industry. It's hit or miss, I guess. If I run across any of those ads, I'll post them here.

Oh, we're also fairly lax about just any subject as long as someone isn't spamming their information all over the site. I guess at some point we'll have to tighten things down, but for now it's all good.

I don't know much about adult business... can't help you there.

On the general subject of jobs, two distant friends lost their jobs as of last week. Well, actually, their last day isn't until mid-June, but they have already been told that they are reducing staff due JET funds getting reduced in some districts.

Not fully sure of the details, but there's still some turmoil to be had in this continuing economic mess.
