Hello!
I am currently an escort in the US and I am hoping to get more information on working in Tokyo. i would like to work as an independent in Tokyo. If there is any advice on good places to advertise or how to go about this, i would appreciate it :)

You're not THE chickentuna (fitness blogger), are you? Because if so I'm a huge fan :D

Basically if you want to work here as an independent you need a visa for something else. I have permanent residency, but you would need to have an ostensible day job, and thereby have a company to sponsor your visa. Japanese immigration is extremely strict.

I got started on my own by researching on this forum and others, but feel free to message me if you have any specific questions. It would be nice to have another girl to work with!

I am not :)
Would you need a visa to work there temporarily? say less than the 90 days? or as a student or possibly a stripper?
It does seem to be very strict, i read the list of acceptable jobs and it seems to be professional vocations, rather than something like a waitressing job.

As student, it is not possible as far as I know.

Principally, if you are a foreign student in japan, you are allowed to do anything. With special permission, you can do part time job but that excludes adult entertainment.

Well, would working there just on a tourist visa work? Im not exactly going to report that I'm working as an escort in Japan, no?

Hi, and welcome!

Foreigners that don't have a permanent residency are unable to do ANY job that would be considered 'adult entertainment' under any visa -- to my knowledge this includes escorting, stripping, or hostess clubs. The main problem with working on a visa waiver that Americans get is that you are restricted to 90 days, and if you come back to Japan repeatedly they are going to get very suspicious as to a) why you are here and b) where your source of revenue is coming from. As Kitty said, you could have a visa for 'something else' (i.e., student or a legit job as long as you are diligently doing those things) and escort on the side.
