Review Narrative:
During my week-long stay in Osaka, I planned a few dates and researched love hotels in the Umeda area.

While most establishments had rather complicated pricing systems, Hotel Lotus was more straightforward and had rooms in multiple themes, which ultimately led to my choice.

I experienced two different rooms during my visits.

For my first date, I chose room 212, a traditional Japanese-styled space featuring tatami flooring, an impressive live bonsai tree, and a samurai armor. It's particularly appealing if you appreciate classical Japanese aesthetics.

My second visit was to room 206, which showcases a beach theme.

The entrance features an actual sand area (with a stone pathway to keep your socks clean) complete with a decorative turtle. The room includes an aquarium, and the bed is creatively designed as a seashell.

While visually striking, the shell-shaped bed proved somewhat impractical during intimate moments — I nearly hit my head on it at one point.

The bathrooms were a weak point in both rooms. Ironically, while they invested in high-tech mirrors with built-in YouTube streaming capabilities, the bathtubs themselves left much to be desired in terms of comfort.

On the amenities front, the hotel offers complimentary drinks and various items in the lobby, and each room is equipped with a water dispenser providing both hot and cold options.

  • Style: 9/10
  • Comfort: 7/10
  • Value: 5/10

Note that if you finish after midnight, it counts as a full night so that's the thing to be careful about. It's not about the time you start but the time you finish.

Final Rating:
★★★ (3 Stars)

The stupid thing is that there IS a hotel Lotus in Ikebukuro and the outside looks amazing, but the rooms are simple, old and overpriced!

Good to hear the Osaka location is cooler!

Why don't we have something similar in Tokyo?
I might have stumbled upon the reason while reading the book "Lost Girls and Love Hotels".

Apparently Tokyo had a "love hotel reformation act" and most of the cool, themed, flashy hotels disappeared. Rather than getting rid of love hotels completely though, most love hotels just brand themselves as "spa resorts" nowadays and try to look more classy but less themed.

Also heard that the sweets themed love hotel in Shibuya closed down because theme did not appeal to old people but only to youngsters, but the prices were a turn off for the young crowd.

Just checked out the website for hotel Lotus in Ikebukuro and yeah the rooms are much bigger in Umeda for the same price.
But it is also a bit old and that's why I feel like it's a bit underwhelming for the price. Really flashy and large rooms, but doesn't feel as classy as hotels like Pasha.
