Can't decide between an iPhone XS and an iPhone XS Max.
Any thoughts?

And before you suggest a Samsung or Huawei, iPhone just fits into my workflow better.

Yeah, we all can use google... but how about a personal discussion instead of just throwing someone to a YouTube video?

My own personal view - I'm sticking with my iPhone 8 as-is. Nothing is compelling enough to make a change at this stage.

If you're use to the 'plus' size that we've known, then go with the larger size. The differences in features is really down to personal taste.
My use is strictly a mixed business-personal use format... no games or fancy photography.

Lol. What fits in your pants better? Seriously, depending on how you carry your phone, pants or bag, that might matter.

The X/XS slides into my pants easier. Ever have a 6/7/8 plus? Similar size as the Max and if cased up, even bigger.

I played with my old plus again lately. I forgot how much of a problem one handed screen use was on the plus sized devices.

Going from the plus screen to the X was nice wrt people looking over my shoulder in crowds at what I’m browsing.

X size with a privacy screen will make browsing TAG and porn in public spaces more discreet. Haha. Just saying.

I have an 8+, I had a 6s up until this past summer. I hardly notice the size difference now except when I am standing next to some Japanese person using a iPhone 5/5s. Unless you really need something like the features the camera offers, I don't think the new phones are worth the upgrade yet.

Fair enough. I'm still using an iPhone 5S. Perfect size. Perfect weight. Does everything I want. Replaced my broken iPhone 5S with another discounted 5S. Unless you're playing mobile games or want to make high quality photographs no need to upgrade IMO. Even then the camera is still great. Personally don't see the point of upgrading your phone every year to the next flagship model that is overpriced unless you're a hipster and want to impress other people :p

My next phone will be an Android for sure. They changed and added too many features to iOS I don't want.

If you're into mobile games check out the Razer 2. It's superior to newest iPhone (or so I've read)

I have the XS Max, the wife has the XS. If you have large hands, the max will be more comfortable. If you don't, the XS will.

I use the phone extensively for business and messaging, the larger screen size works better for me since I'm getting old and prefer larger type. :)

Thanks! I'd stick with my phone too, but I get to upgrade as per the contract, so I thought I'd give it a go.
I am used to the Plus size, but it is quite bulky, and not sure if I'd prefer the smaller one. Might just have to go to the store and play around with them.

Yeah, I have the 7 Plus now. Half of me thinks I'd enjoy the convenience of something smaller. Half of me thinks the smaller screen would look cramped.
But I think I'm gonna go with the XS.

All the larger Bic and Yodobashi stores have demo units if you don't feel like heading to an Apple store.

Is the regular XS the same as an iphone 5?
I’ve been waiting for the smaller phones to come along again. Are they out already?

No... The are still the larger form factor.

iPhone 5 = 4 inches
iPhone XS = 5.8 inches
iPhone XR = 6.1 inches
iPhone XS Max = 6.5 inches

By the "catchy" title... I thought about different thing...ouch! lol.

Big phone heavy and weigh down your pants when you put it in your pocket. Maybe try the XR, it just a little bigger than the XS.

Will take some getting used to (especially face ID), but I like it.

The nice thing about face ID is it takes away the scammy purchase tricks used by some app devs to take advantage of the fingerprint payment activation - they throw up a payment popup with no visible cancel button, and when the user tries to double tap home to force close the app the payment goes through.

Now you have to double click the side button.

I use a 7+ and don’t use a case.

It cuts both ways. I think it comes down to a personal choice. There is not correct answer. For me, I enjoy the extra size because of some of things I use my phone for work. I also have large hands so favor a larger phone. For me it comes with very few drawbacks. Every once in a while if I am wearing tighter pants or shallow pockets and no jacket, I wish I had a smaller phone. But that is rare.

I think if you’re the type of person that feels the need to put a huge case on your phone the + size might be difficult. I’m in the camp of backup and replace if needed. These pocket supercomputers are disposable.

That’s said, if I’d buy again, I’d still buy the +.
