Thread is very self explanatory: I'm looking for book shops offering other languages rather than English, Comic books from USA and Europe, magazines, etc... Any place in central Tokyo? Thanks in advance.

Books Kinokuniya Tokyo at Shinjuku Times Square 6th floor carries good section of foreign books.
Agreed... I haven't been there in awhile, but I remember that they had a wide selection of books and magazines.

Actually, local libraries in Tokyo cover many foreign books.
Good to know, thanks. Have you ever seen non Japanese non translated comic books?

Blister Comics in Akihabara is worth visiting to find American comic books and Bande Dessinée.

Blister used to be good but they stink like rotten eggs since they moved out of Shibuya many years ago.

From what I understand former Blister staffers just spend a new shop in Ikebukuro http://versecomics.jp/?mode=f1

Sometimes I'm amazed at what I can find there, things that Amazon Japan doesn't have or has for much higher prices. I have to be careful about going to that Kinokunia or I'll spend all my money easily.

I used to be like that too and in addition every trip outside had one suitcase full of books on the way back. But a few years ago I moved almost completely to ebooks and my life is way better. No more dragging tens of kilos of books around the world, spending all my time outside Japan in book stores or filling my house with books.

Though the money I spend is no less unfortunately...

I haven't been there in years, but there's a place behind the Kabukiza in Higashi Ginza called the Magazine House. It's a library of sorts. It has a wide assortment of magazines from around the world. You can't take them out. You have to read them there, but if you're in the area and want to kill some time it's a good place to hang out.

For fiction I do the same almost always. For non fiction that doesn't work for me. I often need multiple references open at the same time and I write lots of notes in margins.

there is a manga museum in Kyoto which caries some comics from outside Japan (besides the US). there's a big courtyard where you can lie down and read.

I've visited it. foreign comic selection is small and old. can't really enjoy it if you can't read Japanese because they have rooms and rooms full of it.

Ahh that place. I went there once. The amount of otaku arranging with local cosplayers to take panchira photos was way more than expected. The staff don't seem to care as long as model and cameraman pay the associated fees. Odd place.

Also the website implies they have way more manga on display than they do. There's a fuckton, but the majority is stored in private vaults.
