SUICA is just the software overlay on the FeLiCa NFC system in the card. While the locally produced SUICA type software may not have much in the way of legs, FeLiCa has some decent market penetration in other parts of Asia for transit stored value cards but I suspect it will just be a bit player eventually.

Tim Cook doesn't have to take it out back the barn and shoot it, I suspect they will do that to themselves given enough time.
