Japan Vets: Were the Old Days Better and if so, How?

I won't disagree that Japan has its fair share of beauty and class, but I do believe that it's proportionate to other 1st world countries.

Yes, I am dating a Japanese woman, for a few years now, and while she is not a knockout ten, she is perfectly fine for my tastes. She has good taste in fashion, food, entertainment and is a commensurate professional in her own career.

My point is that I could probably meet someone of equal or greater value in just about any major city. I just happen to have wound up in Japan, I could have wound up almost anywhere depending on the opportunity.
You make some valid points, however, even when I'm in the most glamorous parts of Manhattan - offices, restaurants and bars - I find Tokyo much more appealing. Of course, some people like The Grateful Dead and some people prefer The Allman Brothers . . .

Just the tip of the iceberg, but I remember a conversation that I overheard on an elevator in Manhattan. One girl was telling another girl about how challenging it was to find a Size 28 wedding dress. Size 28! Call the Giants because their Defensive Line issues have been solved! She looked like an NFL Nose Tackle with a pleasant face. She probably lost weight to get down to Size 28 . . .

Another anecdote: at a recent Black Tie event in Manhattan, I worked the room and most of my fun conversations were with Asian girls (including two from London). The notable exception was a pretty 5'10" bleach blonde who was wearing modest heels.

In general, I've have witnessed a lot of unpleasant behavior displayed by New York girls.

Perhaps it's a New York issue . . .

I've been advocating for immigration to require a clean bill of health from a psych before issuing work visas for years.
I agree, but bearing in mind that the Japanese authorities that protect Yamato's blood doesn’t love so much foreigners and that it would be a Japanese psychiatrist who would issue the certificate… better not to give them ideas.

I think it has a lot to do with NY, especially NYC. I've really only spent time in NY on business and any other time I've been there, it's just passing through and not having a lot of time to properly submerge myself in the locals.

Given my roots and where I'm originally from, I'm fine with the country girls operating big machinery (tractors) wearing a t-shirt, cutoffs and a pair of well worn work boots. These girls are usually in-shape but there are those who just sit at home and pop out a kid every couple of years. Upside to the homemakers, they are some mean cooks.

Fuck. I really need to go home. haha.
I'm still not sure if the gf will appreciate my homestead.

NYC is the UN of the world. City has one of everything from everywhere in it. Just gotta know where to go and since it's been over 30 years since it was my stomping grounds.....I'd be totally lost. But it's an interesting place like none I've even seen. Tokyo is no NYC.

I spent a number of years living in a very small midwestern cowtown (it actually stunk of cow shit fertilizer), and there's definitely something attractive about the self-reliance of the females there. And they do tend to be in fine shape. Had a very pleasant fling with a girl there, stereotypical midwestern rural girl--German/Irish mix, dirty blonde hair tied in a ponytail, boots, faded jeans, t-shirt and shotgun racks on her stick-shift truck. We were both gun nuts, she could drink almost as much as I could and I knew more racist jokes than she and her entire family so we hit it off.

But I'd be careful about trying to lure the GF home. I asked my other half what she'd do if I bought a ranch back in that old town I loved and moved us there and she promised she'd promptly divorce me.

Ah well, I'll play that card at some point. I'm destined to inherit everything at some point, she'll have to be aware that and that I'm not likely to sell any of that legacy. :p

Why is TAG's algorithm suggesting this as a similar threads?

Yhe old days were better because I didn’t need Viagra :)

My advice to everyone this far is to get a hotter girlfriend. Some have reported back it did help them to ditch the pills.

Then again I have seen a pic of your Filipina so you actually might just be old. :p

I understand. A different area, but I spent three years in Georgia and had some fun/erotic experiences with Georgia Peaches: super tight T-Shirts; Daisy Dukes; boots, sneakers or barefoot - they made it work. The vast majority seemed to be in shape. Some of those country girls are wild, but feel compelled to get married by age 20. At the same time, suburban Hotlanta has a lot of Jaw Droppers. Athens on Game Day is a sight to behold.

Some people have theorized that there similarities between J-Girls and Southern Suburban Girls - given the emphases on beauty, slenderness and good manners.

Tokyo is no NYC.
This could interpreted 20 different ways.

NYC might have a greater "coolness" factor, so it's common to see famous actors, musicians, celebrities, artists on the streets. Also, you can see lots of models in certain neighborhoods. There are some cool/glamorous restaurants and bars,

NYC has a great sports scene and MSG continues to be a Mecca for college basketball.

However, a lot has been tarnished and damaged by various things including the Pandemic.

IMHO, Tokyo is better than New York in the following categories:

Restaurant scene
Public transportation
Public safety
Cleanliness
Customer service
Number of slender attractive girls

I'm not from Georgia but I've had the pleasure of some southern hospitality from that neck of the woods.

I've been thinking about this thread a lot - it really makes me wonder about my line of thinking when I decided to take this career step in Tokyo. (Yes, yes, it was probably the glamour of going overseas and all the perks and money that came with it. But the money isn't as glamorous as it once was, things are now too stale while my counterparts in other localities have gotten increases.)

I squarely blame a college mate who said those fateful words... "I know a guy..." :ROFLMAO:

I understand.

As for me, right now, if I had an opportunity to move back to Tokyo - assuming proper compensation - I would do it in a heartbeat.

Manhattan/NYC is quite f-ed up right now. There have been a few times where I was almost drawn into violent situations not of my making. Not to mention the knife fights and bar fights that spilled out onto the streets where I just happened to be strolling by under the influence of alcohol LOL. I have been working out again, I hit a heavy bag with MMA gloves and I keep my head on a swivel when I am in Manhattan.

I don't want to rant, but, right now, I really miss Tokyo.

Given the fact that you probably won't relocate to Manhattan, that might have carry some weight in your current thoughts. That's understandable - especially if you have the opportunity to return to a bucolic paradise. During the Pandemic, and the explosion of Remote Work, some New Yorkers relocated to places such as Montana, Colorado and Wyoming. A lawyer friend of mine lives in rural New Jersey - he has guns, dogs and a machine that splits wood. It's a freaking gorgeous place that I love to visit.

I really do understand this point because Tokyo is a fairly great place to be. There are many things I know I'd miss about being here, which is part of the pull of staying here vs. moving back to the states.

This has been a thought... my profession can be done from anywhere there's an internet connection, especially all the changes since the pandemic started. I could just purchase some land out in the inaka, that would give me a place to go when I need a break from the city.

Admittedly, I don't think I could stomach being in NYC for more than a few weeks at a time.

Everything I'm hearing, it's just kind of stale here. The headhunting calls I get from time to time generally don't have a better offer, marginally better at best... fringe and perks, not nearly sweet enough to move.

I'm not going back for any reason whatsoever

I've never known an East Asian woman to scoff at an inheritance. Just word it the right way and you should be fine. As long as she thinks she has a potential commodity to protect/cultivate she'll get on board and probably take over the management headache.
I understand.

I remember living in a small town in Colorado over two decades ago and I loved it there, and when I'd hang out with some of the natives they'd teach me about some of the games they play when there's nothing better to do (and that's most of the time). The favorite was egging cars with out-of-state plates, and there was a hierarchy of which carpet-baggers they hated most.

1) Texans

2) Californians

3) Anybody else, but any blue state was on the shit list

I'd imagine New Yorkers were definitely pretty high in category #3. The last time I visited NYC I was a teenager. I love big cities, I love Tokyo, but NYC is just overwhelming. I really doubt I could ever adjust to living there. I guess that's the beauty of getting old. Nobody expects you to pack up and move to some major metropolis any longer. But Montana, Wyoming, and especially Colorado...fucking beautiful places. The wife's threats notwithstanding, I still plan on purchasing some acreage and a ranch house in that region at some point. Nice place at the foothills of the Rockies with a huge porch, spend my later days sitting out back sipping on cheap beer with a nice cigar and a Benelli M4 shotgun, shooting at apparitions.

You got me at M4, that is a beautiful piece of art work.

This is Round 1 of next year's tax return shopping spree.

I learned my lesson the hard way that keeping a blued-finished pistol-grip Mossy shotgun out in the open next to my desk for ten years when I'm 200yds away from the Pacific Ocean was a really bad idea. Add a 7-round mag tube, maybe some tacti-cool poser stuff like a side-saddle and some new grips and I'm all set for the zombie invasion.

That's gay. All black with a pistol grip is the only way to feel yourself like a heterosexual man with a working boner.

US studies have shown a clear correlation between gun ownership and both smaller penis size and sexual dysfunction. Also with assault rifle owners having the largest prevalence of micro penises. The point about having a big gun to feel like a man with a working boner probably actually has some basis behind it.

During the Pandemic, when riots were increasing, I bought a garden-variety Mossberg. They were flying off the shelves.

I can attest to that. I have over thirty guns, including Chinese knock-off AK-47 and my dick looks like a tiny clitoris.

But it is beautiful.
