Review Narrative:
Finding a hotel in Kabukicho on Valentine's Day is difficult, I made a reservation was made in advance through happyhotel.jp for a room at Hotel Perrier, part of the JHT group. At the time of the reservation, I showed the front desk the confirmation email and paid for the room. Booking through happyhotel does not allow room selection and they assigned me Room 206, which was listed as an E-type on the hotel's website.
The room was fairly spacious but sparse. There was no closet or storage, just empty space. Decor was dated and visibly deteriorating in some areas. Other E-type rooms appear more interesting than 206, which has no distinguishing features other than a large circular bed. There was a spacious but dimly lit bathroom that seemed designed for mat play but no mat was provided, only a single bath stool. The sink area included the standard amenities common to JHT hotels, but nothing beyond that.
Cleanliness was a major issue. While I do not have high expectations from a love hotel in Kabukicho, a room at the same price point as Balian or Pasha should be clean. Many areas had clearly not been dusted or vacuumed. The visible space under the bed was especially dirty with a condom wrapper and other trash strewn about.
The room also had an old central heating system with no controls and no ventilation, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. Other online reviews mention the same problem.
Despite being part of the same group as better hotels like Pasha, Perrier falls short. Some rooms may have been renovated, but 206 was in poor condition, and overall maintenance quality is likely consistent across rooms. At this price, a room in such a state feels unacceptable.
If you have no shame and want something cheap, get a room in a rathole in Okubo. If you want a room that won't make you feel embarrassed, walk one block to a better hotel like Balian main branch.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the sheets reeked of smoke
