Review Narrative:
Finding a hotel in Kabukicho on Valentine's Day is difficult, I made a reservation was made in advance through happyhotel.jp for a room at Hotel Perrier, part of the JHT group. At the time of the reservation, I showed the front desk the confirmation email and paid for the room. Booking through happyhotel does not allow room selection and they assigned me Room 206, which was listed as an E-type on the hotel's website.

The room was fairly spacious but sparse. There was no closet or storage, just empty space. Decor was dated and visibly deteriorating in some areas. Other E-type rooms appear more interesting than 206, which has no distinguishing features other than a large circular bed. There was a spacious but dimly lit bathroom that seemed designed for mat play but no mat was provided, only a single bath stool. The sink area included the standard amenities common to JHT hotels, but nothing beyond that.

Cleanliness was a major issue. While I do not have high expectations from a love hotel in Kabukicho, a room at the same price point as Balian or Pasha should be clean. Many areas had clearly not been dusted or vacuumed. The visible space under the bed was especially dirty with a condom wrapper and other trash strewn about.

The room also had an old central heating system with no controls and no ventilation, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. Other online reviews mention the same problem.

Despite being part of the same group as better hotels like Pasha, Perrier falls short. Some rooms may have been renovated, but 206 was in poor condition, and overall maintenance quality is likely consistent across rooms. At this price, a room in such a state feels unacceptable.

If you have no shame and want something cheap, get a room in a rathole in Okubo. If you want a room that won't make you feel embarrassed, walk one block to a better hotel like Balian main branch.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the sheets reeked of smoke

Final Rating:
★ (1 Star)

All rooms at Perrier have this airconditioner afaik.
I keep using the place because it has mats in some rooms and they are usually a bit cheaper than the mat rooms in pasha but except for that it's quite old compared to other pasha group / jht group hotels.

I assume you're probably more informed on these than me but just in case, I did notice the X08 rooms at forsion also have mats, but I like getting those rooms for the big jacuzzi tubs

Mmm, most rooms in forsion have fold up mats which I don't like. Their fanciest room has outdoor build in mat which is nice in summer but not when it's rainy or colds

Yea I was thinking that does not seem comfortable when I saw them, makes sense

Used the Grand Chariot hotel right across the street from Perrier this time. Much better room quality for a similar price. Very nice tubs, good quality fixtures and AC units from this century. Can't say anything good or bad about the customer service quality.

Basic cleanliness and comfortable rooms is more important than a big amenity list.

I would personally rate Perrier better over all because most rooms in the Grand Chariot are tiny. I actually like the amenities the Grand Chariot provides better in general though although they both have their hit and miss items.

The one I got was quite spacious with a bigger tub for around 10000 for 3 hours. Maybe it was a higher tier of room. Perrier 206 was bad, so my assumption was that maintenance quality shouldn't depend too on the tier of the room itself, but I've only had a sample size of one.

Yeah that's definitely one of their top rooms. Their other rooms are like closets really even if you pay 7000 or so.

Perrier is definitely not as shiny as grand chariot over all and the shitty airconditioners are in every room afaik but the cleanliness just depends on whoever client that day and if they missed some spots. It is however the oldest looking hotel in pasha group and not the cheapest so I would recommend choosing others as well but if you like spacious over new, Perrier is not bad.
I feel like it's always a trade off in Japan also with business hotels. The older ones are more spacious, the shiny news ones are a box. Sad how developers have become so efficient and greedy over the years playing Tetris with how many rooms they can fit into the building.

I was in the perrier room 302 with Anzu, and it was hot af. Shes been there before though and took a panel off the central heating system(?) and turned some buttons. I looked through the open space later and i have no idea what she did, but it seemed to work. Not sure if youre SUPPOSED to do that, as it certainly seemed old and has no buttons or switches on the outside, but might be something you could try.

Yes, the airconditioner there is set on either heating or cooling depending on the season and / or weather, but you can adjust it to "off" "medium strength" or "high strength" with the button inside the machine.
