Love Hotel question.

This has always been a pet peeve of mine. When reading Doujins/Hentai, or when watching JAV (Japanese Adult Videos), and Hentai. I sometimes see scenarios and themes that have an older guy/woman take an underage(obviously a porn actor in the case of JAVs and fiction in the case of Doujins) boy/girl into a love hotel.

Does this have any semblance of truth to it? Coming from a Western country myself it is incomprehensible to even imagine. I know that Love hotels, at least some of them have like blockers or curtain like things were you can't see participants well or at all if when they go up to pay, and some even have automated systems. Is it even possible to do what these fictional scenarios describe or is it exaggerating reality. I find it hard to believe that no one would call out any person man or woman on the street walking that is heading towards a love hotel with a younger partner.

You're likely to see a very strong response if someone sees an obviously underage person going into a love hotel.

Some hotels are automated, so you don't need to interact with staff, but there are cameras and people are watching.
Other hotels have a front desk, but you're right, it's usually blocked so you can't see the staff and you can't see them. Yet again, there are cameras...
And as you mentioned, others on the street are watching and while some people are assholes - most of them still have some form of morals, etc.

Obviously underage situations would illicit a response but borderline cases, such as 18-20 girls working for JK Style, there may not be much of a response.

With 100% certainty, I'm sure that some older men are doing papa-katsu with 18 or nearly 18 year-old girls and I'm betting that they go in and out of hotels without much hassle.
The chance of getting caught is much higher on the street because police will have an easier time to target a potential inappropriate relationship.

There’s always police patrol (a small group of officers or a car slowly passing through the love hotel hill) in Kabukicho. I’m sure the couple would be stopped if the girl is very obviously underage.
I have seen older 50 something men taking underage high school girls to shopping tho. (Usually Shibuya 109) Call it a woman’s natural motherly instinct but I could tell they are not related. Gross, but it happens in Japan.

My personal experience: I have met very young looking Asian clients in their early twenties who had big tall Onee-san fantasy (I think it’s a popular niche in Japanese porn? “Older sister’s best friend” in western porn is also a popular fantasy among young guys.) Besides that as Chris pointed out JK style has underage looking girls on their line up but they are adult ass women who roleplay as high school girls. Some are in their late twenties I believe, but have youthful looks due to their petite stature. As long as it’s between two consenting adults nobody bats an eye.

Edit: I'm actually kind of curious to the origin of how this fantasy started? Do you think it may have actually been possible in the earlier years when cameras were not plenty and the population really didn't care?

My personal opinion is that it's best not to continue wondering about the origins and in-and-outs of this - particularly in a public (even anonymous) space - and instead leave it and chalk it down to the undisputed interest in underage partners / schoolchildren that exists everywhere and perhaps especially emphasised in Japan

There is a woman who works at the local 7/11 if it were not for the fact that she works 3rd shift every weeknight, and I know that she does if I were to meet her on the street, I'd swear she was 15 or 16. With some asian women it is really just that hard to tell imo.
