Did you tell them that you were a foreigner? I speak good Japanese as well but I speak with a pretty heavy accent and it has given some people trouble understanding me even after living here for 5 years. Plus, people can't understand me over the phone which is why I like tee hotel health experience of doing it in person. But the next time in Kabuki-cho were they keep their prices lower, I will give them a shot

Yes, they know I am a foreigner. Very very rarely does a girl object and the tencho is very apologising for that. Maiko told me even that she prefers foreigners (European, Taiwanese) over Japanese, because they (we foreigners) are more gentle. If anyone books her, please don't make her change that opinion! Really, her body is great, her manners are great (if you like a talkative girl) and she is definitely a repeat (if she stays at OL Style). Dear Phil - based on my experience with sister site JK-style, they are gaijin friendly but as the girls and the staff don't speak any english, and as they only deal with bookings on the phone, I would say your Japanese level really should be such that you are able to at least manage to complete the first time registration/booking over the phone, understand their instructions, the need for a confirmaiton call 1 hour before the appointment, the call to tell them the LH you checked in and the room number etc. (not sure if I want to advise someone doing the booking on your behalf, it may not be a good idea...).
 
If you really want to have your friend calling them (that, for the reasons below, I don't think is a good idea) I would at the very least make sure your friend specifies that the appointment is for a foreigner customer.
Many times girls who turn up at the hotel expecting a Japanese customer and being opened the door by a gaijin, refuse giving service and walk away (this happens for all providers, not only JK-style).
JK-style has got a strict policy that the customer should speak Japanese and that once the appointment is booked, if you cancel it you have to pay the full price of the session.
So if you "cheat" pretending you're Japanese (on the phone) you run the risk of wasting money and - even worse - run into trouble.

I remember reading quite a few discussions on TAG on this very issue. Perhaps more 'senior' TAG members could add their opinion/experience on this issue...
 
I never volunteer that I'm a foreigner when I make my own appointments. Some phone handlers pick it up, others don't. If they ask, I don't try to hide it, but do you expect Japanese customers to volunteer, "by the way, I'm fat, make sure the girl likes fat guys"?
 
As I said in the other thread: it doesn't actually seem like JK style really informs their girls that the customer is a foreigner. The girls I have seen through them have all been surprised ("わあ？ 外人さんですか？") when opening the door to me. I have also always specified that I was a foreigner beforehand too and they said it was ok. Well... Heh, I don't know.

I specify it that I am a foreigner over the phone as well if I have to do it that way. Plus, I am a very multi-ethnic guy and I can pass off as Japanese (though my mother is Spanish, Filipino, Chinese, Hawaiian), but my American accent is way too heavy to pull it off despite my Japanese ability.
 
My japanese is also very basic. Though from my understanding, you can also make a booking by completing the form on their website. Once thats done you should receive an email confirmation and on the day of the appointment, you just call them to re confirm, in which you minimize the risk of misunderstandings.

Is that correct or have i missed something? thankss

First time customers cannot make a reservation online. You really have to call the first time you book with them.

If your Japanese isn't so hot then I recommend you study the online reservation form before you call, as those are the same questions they are going to ask you over the phone.

All, I just used JK style (sister company of OL style)for the first time and just so you know there is a guy working there when you call that speaks english( I just asked). But when it comes to the girls you must speak Japanese, no way around that.
