I went to several clinics, also went to Jikei university hospitals and nowhere can someone tell me where my skin rashes come from. Just had a biopsy recently and the result was "Interface Dermatitis" which could be anything as it seems.

I would really appreciate if someone could recommend a very good one.

Skin rashes as in itchy, red, irritated skin?
Or, eczema type, dry, scaling type?

I had a friend get referred out from the Tokyo Midtown Clinic - but that general dermititus is hard to pin down what is triggering it.

He wound up going with a steroid skin cream and some allergy meds to combat the issues. His skin is mostly problem free for now. He only needs the ointment when it flares up. Still can’t determine what sets it off...

I guess you could do an allergy panel if it’s something you haven’t done yet.

That’s all I got on offer atm...

Instead of doctor hopping, work through it with one doctor until you arrive at a treatment that works. Rashes are rarely simple to diagnose.

Starts as scattered tiny red dots, then a reddish circular area forms, then the whole area becomes really dry and then it itches only if I don't moisturize during a long time. A different doctor who seems to be above the others in terms of professionalism at Jikei told me yesterday that it's chronic eczema. I told her I wand to keep seeing her. So I got a new treatment and I'll see her again next month.
If things go wrong I'll go to the place Anna Summer recommended.

My general advice when it comes to doctors in Japan is : avoid the men and go for the women instead.

The last two dick heads I had before her, I told them how much they sucked and they went into full "moushiwake arimasen" mode which tends to drive me even more crazy.

I understand that it's difficult to diagnosize/treat but at least show some form of professionalism as a doctor if you want to be taken seriously.

I recommend Meguro Dermatology Clinic (http://meguro-derm.jp/en/) or Garden Hiroo Clinic (http://www.gardenclinic-hiroo.com/).

I went to the latter when I thought I had an STD on my member. The doctor was female. I can't remember her name but she was amazing! Extremely professional, to the point and my 4 visits were all under 10 mins. It turned out not to be an STD, but she recommended everything for my course of action and I had a lengthy but unstressful few months, thanks to her guidance. Meguro Dermatology for general non-genital skin issues. Also fluent English speaking and really professional, though I'm not sure how they do with complex skin issues because I saw a few customers talking that they want to get a second opinion because the doctor didn't seem to know much about what they had.

I would in general also recommend female doctors as well but definitely not the one at garden clinic hiroo. At least if you have a serious problem and don’t want to be out the door in 5 minutes without proper consultation.
I’ve had so many problems with the woman at garden clinic hiroo and everytime she made the issue worse than before. Doesn’t listen to the patient at all and if you need more consultation time you have to pay (which is quite a lot tbh).

Maybe I was just unlucky and for smaller problems she is fine. :(

How to spot a good doctor :

- Doesn't get you into a hurry
- Asks "do you have any other question?"
- Doesn't take questions as doubts over professional skills
- Smiles

Yep, the best doctors always ask; ‘any other questions?’ Its simple but shows they care.

You forgot the most important skill, one that Anna mentioned above: "listening".

It is the advantage that Doctors have over Vets...their patients can tell them what is the problem. The woman at HGC is not a "listener".

Then again my grandpa always told me to become a vet. He said it's the easiest job there is.

Because if you don't understand what is the problem you can always say "sorry, it's really serious and there is nothing we can do except to put him down".

Wow! I had similar speedy consultation at Garden Clinic Hiroo. I went three times and always I felt like walking in a revolving door. She is a good specialist in cosmetic dermatology, but she does not spend so much time if you just go with insurance card. I had to go always early morning, before the consultation time begins, because she does not accept fixed appointments from those who are not full payment clients. Saying that, in my case, the treatment of removing some small pimples on my face by liquid nitrogen was good.

Since you’re posting on a sex-related forum and are trying to diagnose a skin condition or rash, in addition to a physician or specialist who might diagnose matters by visual inspection ( and biopsies as you indicated ), have any asked you about sexual behavior/partners? Or, blood tests for conditions like syphyllis? There is such a thing as a syphylltic rash that can appear on the body - back, arms etc ( not genitalia ) AND there the levels in Tokyo / Japan are at record levels. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5815645/

Obviously that's the first thing I did.
Had 3 HIV tests and 2 Syphilis tests.
The thing is, when you Google rashes on arms and legs, most of the results are about HIV.
I tell you, I had quite a stressful period because of that.
