Onsen - help with the right one please

What is inside of miso? I know miso soup has fish dashi but does pure miso also have something in it?

OK, the self-described Google Guru, (me) returns with trustworthy research.

Ingredients of Miso

What is Miso? Miso is a fermented paste made from the following ingredients: mashed soybeans, rice or barley, salt, water and a mold called Aspergillus Oryzae (also known as “Koji”). As a staple in the traditional Japanese fermentation process, A. Oryzae is also an ingredient in the production of Japanese beverages including sake and shuchu, as well as common table top items including soy sauce and rice vinegar. Carrying the stigma of a mold, A. Oeyzae has been safely used in industrial production for thousands of years and actually has a pleasant aroma similar to chestnuts.

All of this may be off topic, however, I'm just responding to the posts above.

OK, to at least refer to the thread's purpose, there are onsens that add ingredients like miso to the natural water. Among the best known is Hakone Kowakien Yunessun. I've been there with the family. My two sons enjoyed the amusement park atmosphere and it is gaijin friendly with swimsuits, but to a purist, it's sacrilegious.
