I'm not sure whether any TAG members have read the book Private Dancer, which is about the P4P scene in Thailand, Bangkok to be precise. The book is about 20 years old now but surprisingly still rings true in most respects. It is available as a free download

Does anyone know of any similar treatments of the P4P scene in Japan or elsewhere.

I haven't read this book yet so i'm not sure what kind of literature you are looking for.

For Japan, this is not exactly the p4p scene but i've read this book called "90 days geisha" about a foreign woman going to Japan for hostessing. I dont know of any books that really cover work in soaplands or delivery healths except for crime novels.

For other countries, Eleven Minutes is a classic of course.
And its a bit of a chickflick but i personally feel like i learned a lot from "diary of a manhattan callgirl" and the other two books in that series.

Ooh, I remember this being one of the many weird books we had to read back in school. Didn't particularly enjoy it back then though...and I think I skimmed through most of it.
Even though it's set in NYC & not Japan, do you relate well to the author's experiences about her clients and fellow girls?
Might make a trip to the library...I think it'll be a far more interesting read, now that I've been on the client side of things.

OMG you HAD to read it? Lol.
I mentioned this book to a friend and she was shocked that the library in my town even had it and that nobody stopped me from reading it as a teen.

Its very informative for women who aspire to be upscale escorts, although there are definitely many things mentioned that wont happen much outside of the American/NY escorting scene.

Yeah, 'HAD to' as in it was part of that particular English teacher's curriculum. Its funny how we were forbidden to even watch a movie with a 'sex' scene, But for the books we were told to read, it was open season: sex, prostitution, rape, drugs, torture, mutilation, sodomy etc etc. The books we read had many dark themes in them which we had to discuss in long essays :(

God, i should have followed that class. I love books with dark themes, they really make you think.

This particular book was very light and bubbly though, she is very high end, works for herself and nothing bad happens to her in the books.

Togawa Masako's Ryojin Nikki (translated into English as The Lady Killer) has a few P4P elements.
