Yesterday I arranged to meet a girl from Taiwan in Machida since she was close by. I went to the designated meeting place outside a convenience store. I thought she would come and meet me and we would go to her room. Instead, she told me to go inside the store, use the WebMoney machine to buy Bitcoin and send her a picture, then she would come meet me. I refused, instead I told her to come meet me and we would purchase together. She refused to show herself until after I showed her the papers and receipt proving I purchased the WebMoney Bitcoin.

Needless to say we never met because I smelled a scam.

Has anyone ever seen this before? Is this a scam?

I'm used to good old fashioned cash payments.

It's a scam, avoid. We've discussed this before somewhere around here....

Only meet providers that are willing to accept cash on arrival.

Those scams you described, you just buy the card or whatever, send a picture of the code and that's the end. Your money is gone.

"She" is probably a dude with a computer somewhere running this scam on unsuspecting horny dudes trying to get their rocks off.

There is basically no reason to NOT take cash payments. The one exception is if booking an escort that requires a deposit but that's usually accepted by an app or PayPal - not bitcoin or some shit like that.

There is a risk involved with PayPal with the potential funds being held or the account being disabled because sex work is against their terms of service. Then again, it puts the sex worker under risk rather than the client..

Paypal is a terrible path because it’s too easy for clients to make a claim against the charge and get it reversed. TOS with Paypal basically agrees that Paypal can go in and withdraw money from the user’s bank account without alerting the user. I don’t think experienced/knowledgeable ladies use PayPal as a way for online payment method.

Good to know. I don't generally engage the services of ladies that require deposits but I've seen all kinds of methods listed before. I'm sure people are getting wiser and figuring out better ways but my point was no legit escort is likely to make a client go through what the OP described.

Good job on sniffing out the scam.

Although I'm more in awe at the fact that you waited 3 and a half years for your first post!

There are a lot of lurkers that love to read but too nervous to post anything. Usually worried about privacy or maybe posting something too revealing...

People (some) are paralyzed with anxiety about any sort of adult discussion. But this is Japan, this isn't some religious cult seeking to hunt down the sinners. (Doesn't exist here...:ROFLMAO:)

Still just last week I had two people specifically drive over to talk to me about a better world. It could easily have became one if the female part of the duo would have done to me what I had in my mind after seeing her.

Clearly not the same pair of Jehovah's Witnesses who ring my doorbell every six months or so.

I almost talked a pair into my hot tub when I was living in the States...........it was ohhh so close......maybe if I hadn't opened my robe.....

There is one gorgeous black Jehovah's Wittness girl sometimes going around in my neighbourhood. Unfortunately she hasn't found her way to my door yet. I would beg to be saved.

Edit: these two mentioned previously were from some new thing, not Jehova's. Was too disinterested to listen though.

The JWs just don’t get it even when you tell them no. Even when you ask them to stop visiting your house. Even when you tell them to stop. Even with a Star of David on your mailbox. Even with a sign in English and Japanese that says no solicitation.
